New owners - same great inn, even better
Steve60943on 07/08/2017 22:18My wife and I have stayed many times at the Birchwood Inn for the past 15 years. We come for the ambience, coziness and friendliness in addition to the most amazing breakfasts we've ever had at any B&B anywhere. So when the previous owner told us a year ago that she had sold the Inn, we greeted the news with great concern. Could any innkeeper possibly maintain the quality and ambience of the Birchwood and its fantastic breakfasts and afternoon teas. It's now a year since the transition and we are delighted to report that the new owners, husband and wife team Tom and Debra, have more than met the challenge. They are renovating and sprucing up each of the unique rooms in this oldest house in Lenox and somehow have made the breakfasts and teas even more innovative and delicious. Debra, a great cook and baker, is in charge of the kitchen, and Tom affably runs the house - a match made in heaven. It is hard to believe they are new to inn keeping. We look forward to many more years of happy stays at the Birchwood with our new friends.
Exceeded expectations
BARTWEINon 01/08/2017 00:37My wife and I used to be annual guests at the Birchwood Inn but have not been there for a few years. This was due to our not going to the area not the Inn. All other times the visit was with the precious Inn keeper and we were always highly pleased. We were curious would it still be as good with the new Inn Keepers? The Inn was always known for its outstanding breakfasts. If anything the new owners exceeded what the previous standard was. Breakfast was superb. Afternoon freshly baked gourmet cakes were always waiting for the guests to enjoy. The condition of the Inn was immaculate. The rooms were spotless and well maintained. Tom and Debbie with their staff were wonderful. We certainly will return there.
Solid B&B in Lennox (especially breakfast)
NYC_Explorerdudeon 26/07/2017 19:59Ellen was a delightful host. The rooms and beds were really comfortable and enjoyable. My only gripe was that the working fireplace in the Dana room did not ventilate very well and it got pretty smokey.
Breakfast was delicious both nights and Ellen even baked some cookies for an after dinner snack.
I'd stay here again, but not unless the Dana room's fireplace was working properly.
Meticulous, Warm, Cozy and Spotless!
jfaiella2on 24/04/2017 23:32My husband and I wanted an historic Inn located in Lenox,Mass. We found the Birchwood Inn on Trip Advisor. It dates to the 1700's. Usually, these type of B&B's range from fabulous to fraught with problems. The Birchwood is run by people who care about your comfort & shower you with friendly comfort. The warm, inviting library is chock full of interesting books, comfy couches, bright window seats & a crackling fire in the fireplace. The breakfast room is sparkling with glass, white upholstered chairs and melodious piano music. The meal is presented in an artistic & appetizing arrangement. The rooms are decorated tastefully and sweetly, some very large with couches & fireplaces. Afternoon tea is served (on a tray) and consists of homemade goodies. There is a decanter of sherry and glasses for the night. We met owner, Debbie, but, her husband tom was away. We fell in love with her charming British accent and felt like friends when we left!
Lovely Accomodation for Those on the Road of Life
MK_in_VTon 17/04/2017 12:40Though our visit could only last one night, the owners of the inn and our hosts for the evening made us a little part of their family, including our dog, who received her own treat. The (1767) Birchwood Inn, formerly the home of prominent colonial figures is gorgeous to look at and live in. A true New England gem.
