What People are saying

Awesome Ryoken experience for a great price!

Mitika Kon 06/08/2017 04:29

Came here with a friend to experience Ryoken style Onsen place.

This is a quiet Ryoken with amazing food and onsen experience. It's full value for money for half board meal (that includes breakfast and dinner) as part of package. Tried the traditional breakfast and dinner, which was an absolutely exquisite experience.
The only thing to be kept in mind is that there is not much to do around this area and nearest cafe would be a 30 minute walk. The Biwa lake is quiet around this part.
But, it's much more economical for a five star Ryoken style property and should be chosen for just that experience.

Wished We Stayed Here Longer!

Kenneth Won 11/07/2017 05:56

I stayed here last week as part of a 10 day group tour of Japan. This was our second onsen hotel during the trip and my favorite place to stay! I only stayed here one night and wished we could have stayed here longer. The staff was very accommodating after we noticed a strong cigarette smell in our originally assigned room. They quickly found us a room for the four of us (2 tatami "beds" plus a secondary bedroom w/ 2 traditional beds). The room was very clean and supplied with yukatas and bath towels for onsen. They quickly gave us our 2 kids' yukatas upon check-in. The onsen was great! Very nice outside onsen as well as the indoor one. Very peaceful and relaxing. We also had a very memorable traditional banquet dinner here at the hotel. The food and presentation were quite exquisite! I am very impressed by the service here at this onsen hotel and highly recommend it to any traveler wishing to experience onsen!

Wonderful onsen experience!

I really loved staying at this hotel. I love the Japanese style room, the indoor and outdoor onsen as well the Kaiseki dinner, while wearing our yukatas. Service was accomodating and not at all intrusive. Upon our tour group arrival, we were served traditional Japanese green tea with Japanese sweets. A staff was at hand to provide us with our yukatas making sure it was the right size. The room was a good size with a balcony and a beautiful view of Lake Biwa. There are no beds when you come in the room. They prepare the beddings on the floor while you are having dinner so once you're back, the floor beds are ready. They have a limited number of western style beds. My mother and sister requested in advance and were provided western style upon our arrival. The Kaiseki dinner was amazing and beautifully prepared. It may be intimidating for westerners but I would strongly encourage to get out of your comfort zone and try it out. It may look different but hey the culinary experience is a large part of the travel experience. We tried the onsen at night. They have an indoor and outdoor onsen. They also have information at the entrance for first timers which is very helpful. Upon entering the onsen area, there are individual locker style baskets to store your clothes. Body soap, shampoo and towels are well provided. Once you're done washing/cleaning yourself, you can choose the indoor or outdoor onsen. I tried both. The indoor one was a tad warmer than the outdoor one. I opted to stay in the outdoor onsen just because it was a much nicer experience looking up at the sky and gazing at the stars while soaking. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was Japanese style, again beautiful and meticulously prepared. When in Japan, onsen is a must. When in Kyoto, this hotel provides a wonderful experience.

Enjoyable Stay

This is my first time staying in an Onsen hotel. My experience was better than my expectations. We were very much welcome by the concierge. We were in a group of 12 people and we were guided to a room to have our refreshments and to be given our room cards.

Our room had a great view of the lake infront of our balcony. I would suggest not to leave the doors open as there might be a mosquitoes coming in sometimes. The air conditioning of the room was pretty powerful.

The onsen was clean and stacked with a lot of amenities for us to use. From skincare, hair care, make up remover, to many different types of body cream. Shower gel, hair shampoo, conditioner, everything was of very good quality.

The breakfast and dinner was good. There's a little souvenir shop near the lobby as well. Bought some of their items as I felt it was good as I got to try them at the onsen shower.

Overall, it was really a pleasant stay!
