Nattawut Kon 26/07/2017 13:16I just back from 2 wonderful night at Biwako Hotel. This hotel is the best, great view, good room, free luggage delivery service to Kyoto when you check out. Their onsen is super relaxing! All is great!

In the beginning, I had trouble booking a room through internet which disappointed me a lot. I needed to spend more time to call up the travel agency and hotel for room reservation. Such service contradicted the good impression they had given me while I attended a barbeque dinner held at the hotel not long ago.Sincere apologies were given by the hotel staff. They also dealt with my complaint promptly. Eventually this hotel did not fail to come up to my expectation & trust.
Close to the Hamaotsu station of the Keihan and locates along the Lake Biwa, this hotel has good lake view from any guest rooms.
Since the Lake Biwa port is near the hotel ,it is easy to access boats for cruising around the lake.There are not much choice of restaurants around the hotel in the evening. People can consider to have dinner at the hotel restaurants by 21:00.
I am delighted to be upgraded to a spacious room decorated with stylish furnitures. The lake as well as the iconic "flower fountain" can be seen clearly. There are bottles of mineral water, free of charge, provided by the hotel for consumers' consumption. However, they were bottled in Kofu prefecture, not Lake Biwa.
Regarding the facilities and services:
1. There are both indoor and outdoor osens (風呂) using the lake view as background. Do reserve enough time for enjoying the bath and the scenery.
2. Nice breakfast! A variety of foods were served. Fresh and delicious. We ate much more than usual.The table we used for breakfast was shaky. We therefore asked the waiter to fix. It was handled efficiently.
3. Staffs there are friendly and professional. When I asked for an extra toothbrush, they gave us promptly and in a good manner.
In summary I like this hotel so that it gets to be new one of my favorite hotels and wish to recomend people considering about where they should stay at.
Wonderful View, Excellent Hotel!

The room and facilities, such as the room toilet and the public onsen, are super clean and well managed. The hotel staff are professional and friendly. Luckily, I found that the hotel guests are decent too.
There is an onsen (hot pool bathing facilities) opened to hotel guests. It was my first time using onsen. The hotel provides a billingual guide (Jap. and Eng.) on the onsen etiquette so everything is smooth. I went there in the early morning, the hot spring bath was accompanied by the wonderful lake view and western classical music (from sound system of course). I found it a very pleasant experience.
Wonderful breakfast.
Hotel restaurants close around 9pm. I arrived the hotel quite late so I went outside for dinner. It took only a 10-min walk to the streets with quite a few restaurants. No problem at all.
What's not to like
ThorpedoLondonon 04/05/2017 11:59Room 823. It had an amazing view and was a hugh room. One of the best rooms we had throughout our travels in Japan. The happy hour we had a glass of champagne for around 995 yens each but no nuts or olives offered which was stated on the sheet in the hotel room. The bar is a bit of a comprise regarding its location. The shuttle is regular every 15mins but last pick up from the station is 9:50 which can be a bit of a challenge. The shuttle pick up from the station is outside the station and over the road so come out of the station with the Belgium waffle place on your right, cross the zebra crossing and pick up is a little down the road on the left. You should see the bus stop with cover. Breakfast is great but sometimes the plates can pile up as pick up of plates can be slow.
Definitely would consider going back.
Fantastic hotel and amazing service
adrie90on 16/04/2017 02:07Having never been to Kyoto before, we were really unsure where to stay. We booked the Biwako and were a little worried just before arriving as we found out it's about half an hour drive from Kyoto. However, we had nothing to worry about because the hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating, the services are all modern and the train from Otsu station to Kyoto takes 9 minutes! The hotel runs a shuttle every 15 minutes to the station. The hotel has five restaurants (we ate at 3), the sushi restaurant was absolutely amazing! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in a quiet, less congested part of Kyoto and the staff really go out of their way to make your stay something special.
