Disappointed

Boated over to the black bear (bar is now called wild bear), for a drink at 7 pm. There was a small sign on the door telling us that the bar was closed to the public until 8:15 for a private party. As I said, "small sign". We didn't see it and went to the bar. We were unpleasantly greeted by a young woman and rudely told that we could not be served. However, another employee came up at the same time and said that it was ok, the private party in the DR, was finishing up anyway. This did not satisfy the bartender, continued to shake her head and tell us no. We understand special occasions, it was her lack of civility that was so disappointing. She has no social skills & should not be in the service industry. This is not the first time we have been treated this way by this individual. 2 other occasions in the past month as well. But last night will be our last.

Hands down the nicest, and best, fishing resort we have ever stayed at. We stayed in one of the Bear Trap suites which was perfect for the two of us and the sofabed also accommodated our adult daughter who decided last minute to join us mid week. These suites are located next to the bar & grille but noise was never an issue.Bed was super comfortable, good towels, nice furnishings and plenty of dishes (very cute bear motif) and utensils were supplied. Housekeeping is available for an extra charge but we did not need it-you can swap out your towels and we took our garbage out once. The grounds are meticulous-a bad storm came through one day and the next day the staff worked endlessly to clean up, going as far as picking up small sticks that had fallen. When we used our grill we found that the staff cleaned it out each day for us. When our boat (supplied in the room fee) needed to be bailed after the storm, we found it already done for us by staff when we went down to the docks. The 'lake is beautiful with dozens of bald eagles soaring overhead all day long. Fishing was decent-bluegill, perch, rock bass, largemouth bass, pike and musky were all caught by us.The swimming area is nice and lounge chairs are provided. There are also canoes, paddleboards and kayaks available for use anytime-no need to sign them out. There is a game room, playground, sand volleyball court and teeter totters (which I tried and realized that when you're in your 40's they're kind of scary...). The food and service at the Wild Bear are very good and there are lots of other great dining choices a short drive away.We were thrilled with our stay and are already trying to figure out when we can get back.

Great place

This is one of the better places in the north woods. Very well kept property and a blast for the family. Everyone was so nice here and the lodge is located in a perfect spot on the lake for fishing. Can not wait to go back.

Really good food and service. Bacon cheese curds are awesome. We had the walleye dinner with fries and coleslaw. Iam not a fan of coleslaw but thiers is really good. A slightly different taste which I really liked. We will be back!!

My husband and I rented a suite at the Black Bear Lodge in St Germain. It was perfect for us. It was very clean, very cozy and very comfortable. We had rainy weather so fishing was not good.
We ate at the Wild Bear Grill and Pub(walking distant from our suite)the food and service was very good.
