Great place, but little things unravelled
rhcoon 26/07/2015 00:16The four bedroom condo was well appointed and well located but had numerous small things that spoiled the stay. The kitchen sink plumbing leaked. The common-use commode only worked marginally. The windows were very difficult to move up or down.
And the deal breaker was the internet would not work,...numerous calls to the management ellicited,.."we've been having troubles",..."we'll reset it",..."keep trying the password". It never worked in three days. If you want the internet you have payed for - Do NOT stay here. It is not a priority with management to provide it.
GREAT IN BOTH WINTER AND SUMMER!
JayJayLoudonTNon 15/07/2015 21:27I've spent a week here in the Winter and most recently a week here in the Summer with Black Bear Lodge fitting the bill both times. In the Winter BBL puts you just 100 yards from a primary lift. In the Summer BBL gives you easy access to a paved 3-mile walking path down the mountain to the village of Crested Butte and all of its restaurants and shops. A free shuttle bus will take you(and your bike) back up the mountain dropping you off almost at BBL's front door.
BBL includes a spacious indoor garage, elevators, secure ski lockers, a gas-fired grill, a new out door hot tub and other extras.
Try to rent #103, a 3 BR/3bath unit close to the aforementioned amenities. This is a well maintained very well equipped condo with 4 flat screen TVs, fully stocked kitchen, a stone gas fire place, newer furnishings, WiFi, lots of natural wood and timber accents plus other extras.
Comfy, clean, awesome views
vineyardaltoon 26/07/2013 23:04We had hoped to book a room at The Lodge at Mountaineer Square (where we have stayed before) because we like the location so much (easy access to various restaurants, mini-golf, ski lift, etc.), and the rooms are gorgeous, spacious, and exceptionally clean. However, we were a little late making our plans and The Lodge was all booked up. We ended up booking with Black Bear Lodge and then were disappointed that we couldn't find much info or many pictures online. The staff was pretty good about responding to our questions via email. The Black Bear is about a 12 minute walk to the aforementioned activities (not bad). The accommodations were very nice. We booked unit 308, a one-bedroom with king bed, queen sofa-sleeper, kitchen, living room, deck (no deck chairs), and a loft with another queen bed. The loft turned out to be a big waste of money for a summer-time visit. It was extremely warm and stuffy with no ventilation. Even the big box fans were no help. So we didn't use the loft at all. Otherwise, with our group of 5 adults and 1 child, there was plenty of space for us, although bathroom #2 was very small/cramped. Housekeeping came in everyday to replace the towels and take the trash, then once a week to do a more thorough cleaning. There is no swimming pool, but there is a hot tub, which our boys enjoyed. The view of Mt. Crested Butte from our deck was fantastic.
Nice Family Hotel
Angel Con 10/10/2012 01:11The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable! A nice place to stay! We stayed as a family and had a really good time. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a small cafe that could serve simple foods until 11:00 pm on weekends. We wanted to have something and nothing was available. It was kind of disappointing.
Beautiful home, relaxing with plenty to do.
kajumom2on 21/02/2012 15:22Our home we rented was perfect for the 12 of us with 6 kids. Only down side is that it was one at the end of the resort. Spa services were excellent, pool was great, sledding was great in sisters and lots of room to just play out back. Our 2 dogs with loved it too.
