Unsure - scenic place/ resort hmm

RuchitaAnandon 22/08/2017 10:05

Blue ginger spa resort -
It is a very scenic place, and this is a mixed review at best.
To start with the road to the resort is 4.5kms (not 1.5km) of jungle path and at best it's loads of potholes filled with water N rocks. As the innova trudged up much to our driver's shock we reached stop the mountain.
As I said earlier the scenery and the waterfalls are breathtaking - the reception at the resort could have been better.
In the event your car cannot go up this dirt Track one has to shell out 400/- per trip for the jungle Jeep - which is costly if u plan to do any sightseeing other than staying at the resort.

They have absolutely zero driver facility - no food/water/shower area nothing - nada which is also sad as most resorts do offer such amenities esp given the chilly and rainy weather and its remoteness. The food is expensive for drivers as it's is the resort prices and they cannot trek down for it.
Something that should be looked into.

The WiFi is available only at the reception area and well though it can be argued that one goes to the top of the mountain to get away from the net but I believe they should specify this. The rooms do not have hair dryers(considering the non stop rain a must) and electric points are wobbly. Towels are not very soft so preferably carry your own.

Our booked room did not have a working fan and they gave (due to this being the umpteenth thing not working/not being informed) us a cottage. For which I am grateful.

Be careful of leeches in the area when u go trekking - but a trek N visit to the natural pool and waterfall is a must must.
Bonfire is dependent on weather and they have a recreational room with table tennis, carton, badminton and chess.

The spa was closed during our visit so cannot comment. The gym was workable basic.
Overall the resort was an OK however the natural surroundings make up for all their shortcoming - it is an absolutely stunningly beautiful area with the non stop drizzle, mist covered mountains and a waterfall pool which is wow.

Food was very good - breakfast is a good spread and both lunch and dinner were tasty. The daily dal is yum and the chappati soft and fresh. The staff especially kusum and another tall fellow in the dining area are very polite and helpful.

Kids would have a great time witin the area vis a vis things to see and the food too - aa it is adjusted to what one needs(less spicy in our case)

My 3 year old became a ghost story teller at the bonfire and a nature explorer through the day. He even played a game of chess.
I would probably not go to the place again and book/stay elsewhere while go here for maybe a day visit.

Perfect for a Family!

It is one of the good resort I have been to and probably the hardest to reach out to top by a regular cars unless if you have SUV. Quite relaxing and peaceful place with beautiful greenery. The best part is water fall. If some one visiting this place, try to plan to stay for two night to fully enjoy its beauty. Also the staff people are nice.

Little to worry when it comes to food. Few varieties, too much of oil in fries and average in taste. I am not from Kerala, hence I could sense there is something missing in here. None can think off to go out for a lunch/dinner, as you need to ride on a real bumpy road to reach down the hill. If food is not an issue, this place is absolutely perfect.

Amazing Experience for Nature Lovers

It was an amazing experience with my family and my friend's family. It is calm and peaceful. The best place to go relax and for tasty south Indian food.Their fabulous staff makes us unforgettable days. Resorts are fully covered by trees and climate is awesome.

Close to Nature.. Nice location

One of the best Resort in Wayanad. Location was amazing.. well maintained in such remote area.. Food was also good.. The Stream is running just adjacent to the resort and the natural waterfalls and swimming pool is just awesome.. people can easily access the waterfalls in resort.. I stayed in Chembra rooms and they were clean. Morning Trekking and evening campfire is part of the package.

The route to reach resort is very bad.. we had to hire a jeep. Resort will help arrange the jeep for additional cost (Rs.400/- one way). My suggestion to resort is this cost should be borne by the resort or they should own a couple of vehicles for Blue Ginger customers. The Wi-Fi was working very rarely.. If you order anything extra apart from the package, the cost is very high, so be cautious. Room service is charged extra, it is better to pick your stuff from Restaurant… However if it is food for children, they don’t charge room service fees..

I like the location… Stream, waterfalls and natural pool which they offer.. I would surely like to visit this place again.

Perfect stay for Nature Lovers!

Getting to Blue Ginger is challenging as it's higher up on the hill with the path way extremely rocky. However they have made this very easy for their guests with the Jeep service that is in place from the bus stand in the market below. The service is very prompt and convenient.
The resort itself is stunning, we opted for the Cembra Cottage stay, which was a really spacious room, neatly kept and our cottage was steps away from the campfire and pool area (not operational at the time we were there).
Our first day there was the best as we took a guided trek into the forest and this was the most perfect experience for us. The guide was very knowledgeable and ensure we were safe at all times.
Camp fire nights were the best as we had this all to ourselves to cuddle up and soak in all the fresh air, the sound of falling leaves, crackling at the bonfire... the nights were very pleasant and cool.
The food served at the restaurant is really nice however I do wish they had a bit more variety.
They additionally have a games room to keep you busy.
Over all a great experience, and a lovely space to connect with nature.
