What People are saying

What Dreams are made of!!

Pigeonpointpalmon 17/06/2017 21:16

Well where do you begin...My 50th Birthday and a choice that we had taken an age over..but WOW, did we decide well. The hotel is perfect..well for us anyway. Its peaceful, beautiful, friendly and very much at one with its surroundings. Whilst the room was a little snug for 3 adults ( hubby/myself & grown up daughter), it was cleaned daily and proximity to the beach, mind blowingly close!! The restaurant was open to the sea on one side, offering a glorious vista of turquoise surf and creamy gold sand. Birds are everywhere; Hummingbirds, kingfishers, wood peckers, as well as cute local birds that visit at breakfast for anything sweet. The pool is beautiful and has toilets nearby, so no trek back to your room for relief! The food is fabulous, with butterflied coconut prawns & orange dipping sauce as my favourite starter. The Key Lime cake is sublime for dessert, and if you'd like a cocktail with your meal..or after, may I personally recommend the Pina Colada. Made with coconut ice cream, a stunning smile and lots of love, by Oswain, the extraordinary barman (who just happens to double as a tour guide/taxi driver/ and general font of knowledge about the island & its history!).
Then there are the staff that MAKE your stay the delicious, memorable, fun, smile packed time that you always dream you'll have when you visit a Caribbean island. The exuberant Erica, a woman you just can't help wanting as your friend. Eager to please & desperate for you to love the hotel as she does. Then Adoela, an amazing young Mum who works her job with a smile on her face, even though she's been up since dawn with her baby girl! Rhianna is possibly the youngest, but as eager to please as the rest of the crazy, chatty, helpful crew. There aim is for you to enjoy & have the best time ever. They love the hotel & want you to as well. Their Island is like a trip back 20 years. When people Wanted to chat to each other, to make you smile for no other reason than to see you happy! Who knew that kind of place still existed!! I certainly didn't. My daughter had her hair braided by one of the gorgeous girls from the office....seemingly, nothing's too much trouble for these people.

Away from the busy SW corner, Blue Waters provides nice accommodations with great views of an Atlantic cove and nearby Little Tobago Island. Ala island style, meals are served at a leisurely pace. Snorkeling is quite good 100 to 150 yards off shore on northerly side. Birding can be done from the grounds as well with resident Trinidad Mot-mots and Rufous-tailed Jacamars. Weather was quite comfortable in June with steady westerly breezes.

A Big Disappointment

The setting was beautiful, but's that's where the positive comments end.

Service - During our three night stay we interacted with at least a dozen staff, of which one was friendly and one was so-so. The rest seemed to be bothered by our presence.
Accommodations - While fairly clean, the sheets did not fit the bed (see photo) which means halfway through the night your feet were on a bare mattress, where who knows how many prior guests feet have been. Our first room had a major leak and we had to be moved, which seemed to be a huge inconvenience to everyone other than us!
Dining - Some of the menu options at the restaurant were okay, but most of the food was not very good. We were told we could order anything off the menu for any meal as part of our meal plan, but every breakfast was a buffet with no option to order anything and the buffet was horrible. The kicker was New Years Eve, where upon arriving at dinner we were told it was a "special buffet" for the holiday. After the meal, we had to pay $40 each extra, even though our meal plan was supposed to include everything.
Infinity Pool - They boast about their infinity pool on the website but for our entire stay it was about 5 inches short of being full, which negated any affect of an infinity pool. Worse yet, it was not very clean.

You could not pay me to stay here again.

Relaxing, wonderful staff, piece of heaven and would definitely stay there again

My wife and I just spent three nights at this wonderful hotel, from day one the staff was very welcoming, the rooms were clean and very comfortable with a wonderful view of the bay and the sound of the ocean at nights was just heavenly.
The food was great and always served with a smile. At nights my wife and I would take a stroll out at the pier where they had a light in the water that attracted fishes and which served as a very romantic and relaxing moment for us.
We would definitely be staying there again in the near future.

Love the sounds of the waves crashing on shore

Meet Erica- very friendly wait person who made sure all our food and beverage needs were met. She worked hand in hand with Reannia to take care of our group of 13 divers/ 3 non- divers. Views from restaurant were of water and smaller islands. Very peaceful.
