What People are saying

Fantastic place

MrGeorge123on 14/08/2017 17:08

Renovated in 2017, we arrived at the Berulia at the end of July and into a fantastic hotel. In our view, this is a 4 star pushing for a 5 star.

Most of the hotel appears brand new; from the rooms and fittings, to the sunbeds, parasols, the reception area (which is large), the dining area, the walkways and even the high chairs! (I travelled with my wife and 2yr old daughter).

NB It's worth noting that the majority of the reviews will be prior to the renovation.

The rooms are cleaned daily and kept to a high standard - the bedding (inc our daughters cot bed) was changed each day. There were only infant cots available, not toddler cots. Early teething issue with the hotel, but they resolved it the same day and sourced one. (

The hotel is just in Brela but closer to Baska Voda which is slightly bigger and slightly more commercial. Worth a visit especially Del Posto restaurant (see other review). We did try to book a Taxi from the hotel reception but the hotel taxi driver hung up on the receptionist! She was a bit shocked too. We ended up walking in to Baska Voda (a brisk 5 minute walk, or 15mins with a 2yr old). Unfortunately we found the taxis very difficult to find or expensive. We ended up booking a taxi back through the restaurant and we were charged 80 kuna (about £10) on the meter for a very short trip. The rep warned us that we should pay 60 Kuna max, but with a tired daughter we paid the extra few quid. Didn't break the bank but worth checking in advance.

There are two swimming pools: a large infinity pool and a smaller pool. Both are excellent and well maintained. Most days we had a sun lounger but towards the end of our stay it got busier and it was difficult to find them later in the morning. But at this point, out came the hotel staff in unison, who sourced additional sunbeds and arranged them so everyone had a lounger. A nice touch and good attention to details.

The staff are a credit to the hotel. Polite, courteous and there is a culture of customer service that pervades throughout. This includes waiters, cleaners, receptionists, chefs, entertainment - everyone. Top marks.

The food was outstanding - both variety and quality. Normally two chefs cooking different foods, little entree style dishes to try and a large selection of food on offer include salads and hot food. My wife can be a fussy eater and we spent 10 days without a grumble (which is unusual). The food was excellent. Like all 4 star hotels and above they like to take drinks orders during the meal. As a guide, a bottle of wine was around 200 kuna or £25, a large beer 30 kuna or £3.80 and large water about the same. Not cheap, but reasonable. (There's a photo of the sunset from the alfresco restaurant- which is pretty special).

Only issue here was the breakfast tea - there was no English tea, only a large selection of herbal and green tea. One home comfort that would be appreciated!

We stayed in superior room 424 with a sea view that was outstanding. (1 photo attached is from our room). The sofa at the end with a table, and modern shower, toilet and very large mirror. High quality. There is also the option of having a room with a 'swim up to room' option. We looked at these in resort but we didn't believe the extra cost (which is significant) was worth the upgrade. The pool is a long infinity pool shared with the other 9 or 10 rooms, so your 'patch' is neither large nor private. The rooms appeared to be the same size as other rooms and the view is no better than the large infinity pool open to all. That's just our opinion though.

The kids entertainment were excellent. Really good with our daughter and the mini disco was good although no there were no English songs, which is fine - It is a multi national hotel which we enjoyed. There was some entertainment in the evening such as a band and fire shows which were good.

The beaches are all pebble beaches, which is different but quite nice. Not having sand everywhere is a bonus and our daughter enjoyed moving the pebbles around. I'd recommend the fabric shoes that keen the feet enclosed. My mother in law recommended them (before we travelled) and I thought hey were a waste of money. We bought some in Baska Voda on the first day for £6 (you were right Eileen). The waters really are beautiful and crystal clear, and the sunsets are fantastic.

An important point to note is that if you don't like steps, this hotel is not for you. The price of the fantastic view on the hillside are numerous steps to get to the pool and more to get to the beach. It doesn't take long; it takes less than a minute to get to the beach - you can see the beach from the hotel, but there are maybe 50 or 60 steps to the beach. We knew this when we booked and enjoyed the exercise (most days!) but worth noting.

A short walk along the beach was a great relaxed beach bar. At night there are deck chairs and lights, very pretty, and great view of Baska Voda and back along the other way past Brela. Lots of different drinks and the price of beer was 22 Kuna.

All in all, I would rate this hotel 9 out of 10. Some teething issues as you would expect after renovation but the quality of the hotel and the customer service was high. We would recommend and would certainly return for another visit.

Great vacation

Excellent hotel, kind staff, great food and the most beautiful beaches. I will come to Brela again because of beauty of nature, pine forest, funny squirrels, the sound of crickets and , finally, Sentido Bluesun Berulia.

Sensational Sentido Bluesun Berulia

The perfect hotel for all, this brand new Sentido ticks all the boxes. Fabulous food, superb service, friendly faces, Fantastic facilities located directly on the beach. Rooms are bright all modern with new beds, bathrooms, flat screen TV's, minibar, safe, furnished to a 5 star standard. The restaurant is great with an outdoor terrace with room for all. The new infinity pool is one of its best features, great for everyone including those lane swimmers. There is also a brand new wellness centre, tapas bar and chill out terrace. You will love it like I did :)

Stunning hotel

Beautiful hotel and hugely helpful and friendly staff. Recently refurbished and not fully booked but I am sure they will cope when it is full. Rooms with a stunning view out to sea and two lovely swimming pools.

Fine as part of a tour

HoneyBeeLondonon 22/10/2016 15:35

I stayed as part of a group tour for three nights. Had a good size twin room with a balcony and a partial sea view. Bed pretty comfortable. Reasonably clean. Fairly decent shower room and shower was very good once I had learned to use it but towels had seen better days and there was nowhere to hang towels and the towel rack was so high I could barely reach it. The hairdryer was dreadful - it had hardly any power. I was on half board and food was pretty good except the toaster didn't work for two days and, when it finally did, was useless. The cooked food at breakfast didn't look particularly appetising but everything else was fine. A good selection for dinner although the food wasn't always topped up very quickly. A good base to explore the surrounding area but there didn't appear to be anything much in Brela itself. A few niggles with hotel but pretty good on the whole.
