Billy Aon 20/08/2017 11:11I chose the Bluesun Hotel Bonaca after looking at the past reviews on Trip Advisor.
With just myself and a teenage son & daughter going you need to get it right, where the emphasis when trying to book a holiday is on family groups of 4 (travel company's take note).
Most of the reviews mention that the hotel and it's entertainment caters mainly for the French, personally it's the English I can't stand abroad, but I'll mention this issue later.
So, the hotel, staff - great, accommodation - nice, food - excellent, pool - great, trips - great, location - perfect, and the little town of Bol within easy walking distance is wonderful, and it's beaches & crystal waters lovely.
Now the French influence, all of the entertainment is in French throughout the whole day. By the second week I was instinctively replying merci when walking through doors, pardon when negotiating the restaurant and until they know you the staff talk to you in French, while in the hotel you almost forget your in Croatia.
Overall a great hotel.

Ceetn Ron 30/07/2017 14:39Good food and animation ( carpe diem ) they are very friendly ! The rooms are nice and proper, for the kids it's very good :-) alot things to do on the beach , we went for 8 days, croatia is very beautiful!

asbjornt2017on 16/07/2017 23:01The hotel rooms are clean, but small and dated. The fabric on the chairs in the apartments are from the late 90s. The only things that has been somewhat upgraded was the bathroom which looked as it had the tiles replaced not too long ago. The pool area and the resort itself is well maintained and clean. The all-inclusive menu was varied and tasty. However, the dishes and cups had leftovers on them after they had been in the dish washer. I would assume this is because they probably do not rinse them thoroughly before putting them in the washer. Not very appealing at all.
Almost all activities and shows are in French (we are from Norway). It might be a cultural thing, but compared to the shows we are used to from the Nordic travel companies this was below par.
The resort is very nicely located with a five-minute walk to the nearest beach and 10-minute walk into the town.
In summary, the hotel was average but Bol is absolutely fantastic so we will go back, but next time we will stay somewhere else.
Excellent entertainment
Jesse2002on 07/07/2017 20:22If you want your children to be entertained on holidays, well then hotel Bonaca is the place to go! We recently just came back from hotel bonaca are we already considering to go there again next year. Firstly our rooms were cleaned every day, new towels and a gorgeous balcony. The food played a major role in our holiday. They catered for every taste and had a wide range of different foods. The food was fantastic and had no complaints what so ever. There was snacks on the terrace all day. We really loved the food. The pool was spotless, plenty of room and well kept. Sun lounges available every day. There is also entertainment all day at the pool such as aerobics, waterpolo, crazy games and the pool dance. It lifted the spirits every day. The animation crew were FANTASTIC. It is only a five minute walk to zlatani rat beach and less than that to the nearest beach. There was aqua inflatables in the sea which we went to twice and really enjoyed it. There was also a number of piers that are avilable to jump/dive off. The town of Bol was only a 15 minute walk with stalls along the way. The harbour was really beautiful with a number of different type of boats that really attracted people. Lastly I'm going to end with the highlight of our trip, the entrainment. From the minute we walked in the door to the minute we walked out the entertainment crew did everything they could to make us feel so comfortable. A special thanks to lana from carpe diem who was absolutely amazing to us. She always has a smile on her face and as the main clientele over there was French she took time to explain everything to us in English. She showed great enthusiasm in her work and always was so passionate about having fun! She made every activity a 100 times better by her friendly personality. She squeezed in time off her busy day to teach my sister and her friend Croatian. She always went the extra step. Thanks so much Lana! The rest of the animation crew were absolutely fabulous too, Vico Sami to name a few. They spent most of their day doing activities all around the pool and ended the fun day with mini disco, a show and some dancing! I really recommend families to go to this hotel as it will be a holiday you won't regret! A special mention to Lesley our Thompson rep who was amazing and so helpful. She always checked in on us to make sure everything was OK and advised us where to go! Hotel Bonaca you were amazing!
