Sunday afternoon visit
billmoffat2005on 12/06/2017 20:33My wife and I call here yesterday afternoon on the way to Betws y Coed. We had coffee, baguette and cakes. The service was very good with polite staff. The baguettes were OK but were a little on the dry / stale side, however on the whole were nice. I don't like the idea of wrapping the scones in cling film as this tends to make them sweat, an alternative metdom would be advisable preferably under a glass dome. Coffee was really tasty. On the whole a pleasant value for money visit.
Such disappointment
Lyn Pon 05/06/2017 21:58Our first and last visit! On such a beautiful Sunday we went with much anticipation for a coffee and homemade cake. The cafe area was dirty and with surprise we were told to order we had to join the canteen style line of customers. There was very little on offer and as it was only 2pm I asked if there were any homemade scones left? Two small scones were slapped down in front of me tightly wrapped in cling film with no offer of jam, cream or even a plate! Again having to ask for these I was met with sighs and minimal hospitality. Eventually plates etc were sort and I proceeded to order 2 large cappuccinos and pay. A lengthy wait in line again before it was my turn to receive my drinks. I was appalled to witness that my 2 large cappuccinos were indeed made from 1 double shot. When I asked if the coffees were coming from the same shot the young lady said "it's ok I press the double button" I know full well this is not how to make a cappuccino I was in fact about to receive two very weak coffees. Not wanting to increase anyone's wait I accepted these and continued to find the cutlery tray. Guess what, it was empty and I again had to rejoin the ever waiting line to locate a member of staff to ask for 2 knives. These were hastily retrieved from the wash up area, wiped on a tea towel and given to me. To add insult to injury a quick trip to the loo before we left, no toilet paper.
Bitterly disappointing
Alex Don 03/06/2017 21:46Well I cannot believe how disappointing the visit to the Bodnant food centre was. Be careful if you are taking elderly relatives as there are uneven cobbles (there are signs) so when we walked into the food place there was a bit of a dodgy smell?? A bit like drains. The cafe wasn't too busy so we decided to go up an order an I honestly cannot believe how rude the young blonde waitress was. Her attitude and looks of death were enough to make me want to leave. After ordering a panini "Jordan" which was her name on the name badge rudely said "We haven't got any Brie " so we ordered another panini only to be told "we haven't got any Panini's, il tell you what we haven't got" she then read out a list of about 7 items which included the fish cakes, soup, chicken , Brie and panini's!!! She was so rude and her attitude was honestly appalling. We decided to leave as "Jordan " was incredibly rude we didn't want to stay. This place is not cheap so please don't go there as you would be really disappointed as we were.
Going downhill
colfair123on 02/06/2017 14:16We haven't been here for a few months because last time we went, they were serving very little in the way of cooked food, so today we thought we'd give it another try?
At 1:30pm in a moderately busy tearoom we were told that over half of the ,already limited, menu was 'off' which left very little choice, we were also told that there would be a 45 minute wait for food, the chap in front of us was even told that there would be a 45 minute wait, and he only wanted SOUP !! The place was by no means full and half of the menu was off, and yet 3 people were in the kitchen working (at what) it's such a shame that this nice little tea room is being left to deteriorate so much. We left without buying and carried on towards Llanrwst !
Bad, embarrasingly so. Please find somewhere else that values your custom.
KevStAsaph1on 31/05/2017 16:59After a glorious visit to Bodnant Gardens we stopped off at Bodnant Welsh Foods for lunch at 1.20. We were watched, by a young waitress, reading the entire menu and then informed they had no baguettes, no panini, no rarebit and received no apology for the inconvenience. Waited 10 minutes for my wife's sandwich as it languished on a counter whilst the teenager serving drank her coke. Your staff need better training and your supply system needs to be vastly improved. Very disappointing for an establishment that charges £4.25 for a substandard pasty. Even worse that you are prominently placed and claiming to be the best that Wales has to offer. I was going to recommend that my friend's cruise tour coaches use your facilities but have changed my mind.
