The best place in South Africa!
AndreasBritzon 20/02/2017 11:38I've been here twice and am always looking forward to the next time. This is a truly amazing, unique place. From the moment you're picked up at the gate, you're treated to luxury. The guide (Stewart) is an amazing host and knows anything and everything about the reserve and the animals. The reserve has all the big 5 (Having seen 4 of them personally here) and so much more. The lodge is amongst the most luxurious in Africa, with beautiful views. YOu don't need to do a thing except relax and enjoy Africa
Awesome
Hw Hon 08/02/2016 10:30This is a gem and it was our second visit. My children enjoyed it just as much as we did. The food compares to any fine dining restaurant in a big city. The staff is very capable and one can just sit bank and relax. The best getaway in South Africa!
Luxury and Nature in Perfect Harmony
James Con 10/12/2014 19:15Upon our pick-up from the gates of the Welgevonden Game Reserve and the subsequent drive to the lodge we were treated to giraffes, zebras, and a family of elephants, a start that epitomised the rest of the week. Under the care and tutelage of Stuart and Tammy along with Vincent and Queen we had a truly unforgettable week. The food prepared by Maria, three times a day, was as good as anything found in the worlds leading restaurants; the picnics on safari including freshly baked breads and cakes were sumptuous. Stuart and family by the end of the week were friends after teaching us so much about the animals and the reserve as well as welcoming us into their family. Stuart gave us everything we could possibly ask for in safari; the big five and more, lions and elephants touching distance from the vehicle with absolute security.
Metsi lodge itself is out of this world; all views looking out on to the watering hole where elephants, rhino's, warthogs and hippo's graze and hydrate as you swim read or enjoy one of Maria's feasts. Inside the decor is perfectly fitting to the lodge; a central pool table sets the scene, among tribal furnishings that look custom made for the design of the lodge. All bedrooms and bathrooms have every single thing catered for, with a regular supply of homemade cookies and chocolates embellishing further making sure you don't come home lighter than before!. Having the choice of an indoor shower or out every morning (or bath) provided each days biggest problem!
I could say more but it would spoil it for the next guests; a truly unforgettable experience and an insight to the jet set lifestyle. I hope we are back sooner rather than later!!
Unbelievable trip - what a place!!!
Tom Mon 30/10/2014 15:00We spent a week at Metsi and from the moment we arrived we had a phenomenal trip. Driving through the Safari parkland we saw 3 of the big 5 before we even got there and were treated to lunch on arrival in front of Hippos and Rhino. The lodge is right in front of a dam and therefore there is wildlife all around. I will never forget the early morning outdoor showers whilst watching Giraffe nibbling at the trees 100 metres away.
Stuart and his family look after your every need and are really informed out on Drive, showing you the best that South Africa has to offer.
An amazing time at an amazing place!!
Best week of my life
Anthony Hon 29/10/2014 12:06Hands down one of the best weeks of my life. The lodge itself is beautiful, and boasts some spectacular views. Stuart and his team are all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel write at home from the first day. I had never been on safari before, and I have to say it completely surpassed all of my expectations. Stuart's is an excellent guide, and very patient with the younger ones on the drives. We were often the first car to sightings of the rarer animals, and this is all down to Stuarts great knowledge. We even managed to see a leopard which I have heard is very rare, so absolutely no complaints. The food was also of the highest order, and the rooms were very clean and well kept. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get away and relax, while enjoying some spectacular safari drives.
