Good Location, Friendly Hosts
Steve Hon 21/08/2017 20:45Gill and Ian’s B&B provides comfortable accommodations in the Leith district of Edinburgh. The location was good for us – though normally we would rather be more in the center of things, August is Festivals month in Edinburgh and it was a relief to be removed from the crowds that continuously choke the Royal Mile and most of the downtown area. Access to the city center is gained either by foot (about a 20-minute brisk walk) or by city bus, with a stop just about 100 yards from the house. And it’s also an easy walk to the Leith harbor, which is filled with bistros and restaurants. Our room was bright, spacious and comfortable, and a complimentary carafe of sherry was on our side table. Breakfast is the standard for good Scottish B&Bs (though the tinny and annoying radio music is a negative); if you want to take advantage of the offer of Loch Fyne kippers, be sure to order in advance. The front hall table is stocked with tourist guides and information, and Gill is happy to place a taxi order for you.
Fantastic guest house in a great location with lovely warm welcome
AndrewBannister1972on 31/05/2017 12:18Great value for money and a lovely room in a beautiful house. The room was beautifully decorated with high ceilings and quality decor. Comfortable bed and a good shower. The welcome from the host was very friendly and the hosting throughout our stay was super. Lovely breakfast too. All this at less than the cost of a faceless chain hotel. Highly recommended.
Excellent
shanecC4025OMon 29/05/2017 19:40Gill, the owner, offers an outstandingly generous and warm welcome to guests coupled with exceptional hospitality. My room was very clean with a comfortable bed and lovely linen. The breakfast menu, and the food, is second to none. Gill deserves to do well and I unhestitatingly recommend this venue.
Amazing!

Our room with private bathroom was amazing, very clean and spacious, with fantastic facilities.
Would have loved to stay longer than just the weekend! Must recommend!
Lovely Guest House
ieharding08on 09/01/2017 11:47We just had the best New Year celebration we ever had in Edinburgh and our stay at the Bonnington Guest House was part of this great experience.
a very friendly greeting from the Landlady, Gill , The room was spacious, quaint and clean , a little dated but that just added to the character we felt. Our private Bathroom was lovely and no inconvenience being just across the hallway.
Gill gave us all the information we need to easily get into Edinburgh and anything else we needed to know. The Bus stop is no more than a 2 minute walk away and the No.11 bus takes you into Princess Street right in front of the Castle Gardens.
The breakfast at the Bonnington was perfect for us , there is a selection of cereals and fruit on offer and plenty of fresh bread for you to toast with jam's,Marmalade's etc and fresh juice . If you wish you can opt for a hot breakfast , I recommend the Bonnington Grill or they will do you Kippers.
A great base for us , all the staff (family) very welcoming and friendly , we hope to go back again to see 2017 out and 2018 in .
