Great Location and Old School Feel

We stayed at BTR for the first time in March 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed our four nights there. We had a family room on the first floor of the "pyramid" shaped hotel that opened directly onto a lanai and the beach. Couldn't ask for a more tranquil spot to enjoy the morning or evening.
The room consisted of a spacious main room with a king sized bed and living room seating area, along with a separate room with two twins. This was extremely convenient as we had my mother in law with us and the extra room provided all of us a little privacy and separation. It would be perfect for a family with children as well. In addition it had a huge bathroom with a spa tub and separate shower. Amenities included a small refrigerator and flat screen tv with suspect satellite reception. Wifi in room was nonexistent but you could connect from the lanai. Beds were comfortable and air conditioning was strong. I agree with many of the prior reviews that the place is a bit dated but it's also a slice of old Boracay with tropical styled appointments including bamboo furniture. If you're looking for ultra modern, look elsewhere.
From the ground floor, ocean view room we could walk directly out to what amounts to a private beach, a small cove at the end of station 1 away from the main stretch of white beach. The water is perfect, the beach was clean and we never had a problem finding a couple of sun beds each day to tan. Best of all this portion of the beach is a perfect place to watch the sunset so you never have to leave.
The on site restaurant is only average in regard to food and menu, but very convenient. Cocktails and beers are inexpensive, especially during sunset happy hours, and the restaurant itself offers indoor and outdoor seating. Another good sunset spot with live acoustic music. Service is uneven but friendly and the included breakfast was small but passable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was really attentive and work very hard. Our room was always well stocked with fresh beach towels each day.
I would suggest arranging transport from Caticlan ahead of time. You can purchase door to door airport transfer, ferry ride and hotel transfer from Boracay port all at once. Get a round trip. This helps you avoid the lines at the various ticket windows you would have to endure as well as a very unwelcome tricycle ride upon arrival. We used Southwest Tours and it was first class with enclosed boat (not a banka) and air conditioned vans. All in price is very affordable. Save yourself the headaches.
Trikes to D Mall are available right outside the resort entrance and if not, security will call one for you. Alternately you can walk the beach to station 2 in about twenty minutes. We usually walked on our way out for the night, but took a trike home. The trike ride is under 10 minutes and around 100-150 pesos.
We learned that they will be completely renovating the resort beginning in May so this old world Boracay charm will be gone, probably replaced with another antiseptic, ultra modern cookie cutter. I'm sure the new resort will be nice. You can't argue the location but I'm sure that it won't be as affordable or charming as it is now. Enjoy!

Could be better

Room was big and good enough. However, looks like the hotel has been better in the past but deteriorated due to poor maintenance. Location is in the very end of the beach, during high tide you need to wade in the water to get to the main part of the beach. On-site restaurant was very poor.

Restaurant really awful

Went there for a dinner party. To make it short: Bad and cold food, warm beer, premixed cocktails, awful dj. Went to another place after paying 60€ for the dinner.

The place itself looked very nice. The hotel might be a different experience.

Good hotel

We stayed at the hotel in February. Hotel is situated at the very beginning of station 1, quiet and nice area, walking distance to the ''party zone''. Hotel is quiet small, but the rooms are spacious, private terraces from every room. We had a problem with AC and we were moved to another room without any problems. Rooms are cleaned every day. Hotel restaurant served really tasty food. Huge portions for small prices. I recommend the hotel for couples for a romantic getaway. The only thing that bothered me a bit was service at the restaurant, extremely slow, it took them forever to take the order, but food recompensated everything. Hotel is due for renovation, small touch ups.
