My wife and I have been coming here for over 12 years and enjoy the ambience and comfort of this family friendly resort. Lots to see and do for all ages! There are a lot of good restaurants locally and it is roughly 30 minutes from Pisa and also from Florence, besides other towns such as Sienna and San Giminiano.

Lovely hotel in a stunning location

We loved this place - beautiful buildings in stunning scenery. Lovely pools and fantastic food in the restaurant, we also frequented the restaurant at the entrance of the hotel which had lovely food and panoramic views. The staff were delightful and very helpful. Our apartment was very spacious and comfortable. We visited Volterra and Pisa having come from Venice and Florence. This part of Italy is hard to beat and we would highly recommend for families and couples alike.

Family celebration

A place that is normally quiet with extremely good service and spectacular Roms/suites. Really good restaurant, especcially the dishes with truffels. Also some good restaurants in the nearby village. Good with separated poolareas.

Avoid the weddings.

As timeshare owners we arrived to our perfect destination. Brilliant car hire service (thank you hertz). The borgo was just as we love it. Brilliant service, just idyllic. Lovely trips out and catching up with favourite restaurants. However. .. my husband met a guest who was getting married at the resort at the weekend. No problem there. We often see weddings at the borgo. Unfortunately some of the guests at this wedding seemed to treat the resort like their own. They were loud and inconsiderate of other guests. The borgo offered us a complementary meal as compensation which was kind but given that these guests were still around ruining the peace we declined especially as it was our final holiday evening.
So what can be done? Not a lot. Perhaps wedding planners could make couples more aware that other guests are staying. Over the years we have seen lots of celebrations at the borgo. This is the first time we've had an issue.

Great for tranquil isolation but avoid if on business

Beautiful resorts set in a beautiful isolated location in Tuscany. Only 30mins from Piza and 50 mins from Florence airports. People who work there are friendly professional and welcoming. Apartments are spacious and well appointed. Beautiful grounds with warm outdoor swimming pools. Food was excellent.

However... if you are intending to go there in business, for a meeting or group event and need to work then forget this place. The cellphone coverage is extremely poor. The wifi internet has many different routers but they just not work. They can accommodate lots of guests and when they do connect, the internet connection is slow and unusable. Forget Conf calls, reliable email or web browsing.

I complained three times about room wifi and each time someone came quickly to fix it but it lasted for about 10mins each time before stopping working. Same problem in the meeting room/music room. Zero wifi by the pool.

Other problem was the huge number of mosquitoes in each room. One colleague was bitten more than 50 times and had to leave for medical treatment, including a cortisone injection. I spent two two nights with broken sleep due to frequent high pitched sounds of mosquitoes dive bombing my head which was the only part exposed - and this was after already killing 20+ mosquitoes in the room before bed. I came away with 12 bites on face head and hands. I did not get bitten once outside or by the pool.

Finally, on checkout, after initially being overcharged, this was corrected quickly. But instead of charging the bill to the card in one transaction, they split it into two, one of which was for one Euro!?! Thanks for the extra credit card forex charge! Then, after paying hundreds of euros, was told that I could not have a receipt and that I would have to wait 3 days for an email, even though they did not have my email address. Not sure this is legal in Italy. How would they like it if I paid the bill in three days when receipt was ready? I doubt it. This approach was not agreed on checkin and only became apparent after they had taken the money. They care more about their own processes instead of customer experience and for that reason, I'm not going back in the future. Every other hotel in Italy gives a paper receipt at point of payment so there is no excuse.

Summary: if you want to get away from the office to work on a problem then don't come here. If you don't mind the mosquitoes in your bedroom and you want no-internet isolation in a beautiful environment, with friendly people, then this is the place for you.
