What People are saying

Good value and location

Liam Ion 12/08/2017 22:44

I stayed for a number of days in August.

The hotel is centrally located, with short walking access to all local amenities including shopping, theatre, town park, Aquadome etc. And navigation to all the nearby Kerry tourist spots Dingle, Killarney, Castlegregory etc is easy (if driving). Bannna beach (recommended is c. 10km.

Reception was fast, efficient and friendly. Rather surprisingly the hotel has 'real keys' rather than modern access cards.

My room was good, comfortable bed, coffee facilities, well serviced on a daily basis.
Although my room faced the main road, I did not find it in any way noisy.

Breakfast was good, self service, usual 'full Irish'. My only reservations were that the coffee - I need my caffeine to quick-start the day - was insipid and ther was no cold buffet.

The hotel features a nice spacious bar which has music on Wednesday and (I think) Friday. I wasn't there for any of the music sessions so can't comment on that.

There is an good bar menu, which seemed reasonably priced. I had a seafood chowder as a light late lunch and enjoyed it.

Hotel features really good car parking in a large car-park at the rear of the hotel. The car park is large, so failing to find a space would be unlikely, even in peak periods. Rather usefully, the car park barrier lifts automatically on entry so it is possible to park without first checking in. (A pin code provided by reception is necessary for exit). Just one note, the car park is not to be confused with the car park opposite the hotel which is a public pay car park.

The hotel features sauna/gym and I think pool. I didn't use the facilities, so I can't evaluate.

For location, friendliness and comfort, I have no reservation about giving the Brandon a high recommendation.

Stuffy and old room

Stuffy and old room in need of an update. Food not that great either (breakfast and dinner). Staff was friendly and location is near the center of Trailee in front of the national theatre. I'm not sure I would come back again but overall it is an average hotel for its category.

Great Room

We stayed 2 nights in Brandon Hotel while taking an Irish Adventure tour and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. It was a nice room to come back to after a long day of exploring and sight seeing. The only downside to this hotel was the staff. When my travel mate and myself inquired about their laundry services the first time we were told to call when the morning crew was there. The second time, once the morning "crew" was there, they said look at the laundry bag in your room, that was it. We did and the laundry bag did not have prices or any of the answers to the questions we had asked them. Another thing, was that our room's door was behind a door that opened across it so it was a major fire hazard as we would not be able to get out.

Otherwise the hotel was beautiful and I had no problem sleeping.

Nice hotel, spacious room.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and good value for money. Excellent location and not too noisy. Tea and coffee-making facilities in room. The bed was okay but not overly comfortable. Breakfast - I like the idea of everything being self-service, however, there are definitely a few improvements that could be made here....I would have liked porridge but it wasn't provided for self service and no menu was provided for extra options - I tried to get the attention of the waitress but gave up after she ignored me 3 times! I didn't know it was available until I was halfway through my toast and saw another resident being served it! One major gripe that could easily be rectified is that there was only one serving tongs to srve both meat and vegetarian hot food - as a vegetarian I was less than impressed with this. If all vegetarian food was kept in one server and all meat in the next and a small sign asking people to keep tongs seperate, it would have been better. Overall, a nice hotel, good price, great location with only some small improvements needed!

Stuffy room

The ground floor is very grand and the reception staff are lovely and very helpful. The twin room however was a let-down after seeing the reception area. The room was quite compact and very warm and stuffy during the night which made it difficult to sleep (staff were lovely though). Pillows were thin and uncomfortable too (staff were lovely though!!)
My comments may paint a bad picture, but this is not indented. Perhaps after visiting several hotels in Co Kerry over the week, this had the smallest, most cramped room compared to the others which isn't fair, so apologies for this.
