Shooting Weekend at RAF Lakenheath

We have just arrived home after a fabulous weekend being looked after at Brandon House. We have travelled to the area each year at this time and stayed in different establishments this is by far the best ever so much so we have booked for next year. The Chef is world class the Staff tip top 10/10 from us all at Frankley Bowmen (Rich Cope)

In need of TLC, could be so much better

Our bedroom was disappointing - small and poky, rather tired and in need of some TLC. Rooms noisy, could hear toilets / pipes in other rooms. Small double bed. Disappointed that hotel bar was closed on return from concert. Such a shame, beautiful building with great potential, but the tired bedrooms let the place down. Overall our stay here was disappointing and we would not return here.
We stayed here for a concert at Thetford Forest, about an hour's walk away from hotel and as far as we are aware, nearest hotel to stay at. Friendly welcome on arrival and it was appreciated that hotel had brought forward dinner time so that residents could eat before concert. Food was decent at dinner (and breakfast) and friendly service. Wi-fi free and worked well. Ample parking in hotel grounds.

Good value for room and in restaurant

An old building, which is reflected in the rooms, but our room was spacious and, most importantly, perfectly clean. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was good value. With Thetford Forest at hand and Lynford Arboretum not far away it is well located.

Good location, needs some TLC in parts

Came with my husband for a couple of nights whilst on a walking weekend in Brandon/Thetford. Quite impressed when we first arrived, met by very friendly receptionist and shown our room at the back of the hotel.

Our room was clean and airy but unfortunately this showed up all the bits that needed work doing such as filling of chips taken out of the walls and scratched/worn paintwork. However, the bed was lovely, quite firm and comfy. Slightly odd thing, the pillows (we had two each) were the thinnest I've ever seen but we found some extras in one of the cupboards.

Breakfast on both mornings was very good with waitress service on the Saturday morning and a hot buffet laid out for self service on the Sunday morning (we preferred this option).

Overall we did enjoy our stay; so much to do in the area, great walks, but did feel little let down with the room. Couldn't fault the staff though, really helpful and friendly, but due to the general condition of the room felt could only give an average rating.

Very pleasant but tired

Stay for one night to attend a local concert, old but very clean, rooms were sparsely furnished but adequate. We didn't eat in the restaurant as they had a private function but breakfast was well provided. Try the ram inn across the road for a drink as the lounge closes early
