Oh dear, oh dear
sharon ton 23/08/2017 18:35Visited this hotel under the pretence of their 2 day Lazy Spa Break.
We tried to book treatments on arrival, but they only had one hour spare to offer for the duration of our stay, so we shared it. A half hour massage each.
All the classes we were interested in were fully booked on arrival, so put ourselves on the waiting list for yoga the following evening, but didn't get on.
Ok, a swim we thought... unfortunately not. The pool is open to children and families from 9.00am until 12.00pm and then 3.00pm until 7.00pm. It's noisy and kids are aloud to jump in the pool.
Dinner was bleak to say the least. For example the leek terrine consists of cold pressed leeks, and that's it. Without launching into a full scale rant, everything else went down hill from there.
We spoke to the duty manager, Catherine who listened to our complaints carefully and tried her very best to make amends for our dreadful experience. Without wanting to write an essay, basically it went from bad to worse and we left the following morning before breakfast.
The duty manager, Catherine very kindly gave us the 2nd nights dinner and wine free, plus amended our final bill. Despite this, we still came away feeling like we'd paid far too much for the standard of food, non existent spa experience and very tired, brown surrounds. This is absolutely NOT a 4* spa retreat. Despite being offered a special deal to return and for them to make amends, I will never return or recommend this hotel. A very disappointing, boring 2 days all round.
Lovely break and spa experience
Chroliwilon 18/08/2017 22:23Nice location in lovely grounds and reception staff were so helpful. We upgraded to a wonderful room with such a comfortable bed and bedding, we didn't want to get up! The spa was brilliant, couldn't fault the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. We were able to sit in the sun on the roof terrace, it was such a relaxing setting. The evening bar meal was excellent and so was the breakfast - both with terrific service. Such an enjoyable stay if you need to relax and chill.
Afternoon Tea but Expected better
Mrs_OzKenton 17/08/2017 14:52Went for afternoon tea, many teas to chose from but the food on the trays left something to be desired, some of the sandwiches were dry and had obviously been made much earlier in the day and stored in the fridge, which bread never likes, the scones were claggy, the jam very runny but the cakes did look pretty but too sweet for me. For the money I would have expected better quality of food.
Fantastic Service
me469on 08/08/2017 22:04We had a great weekend at Brands Hatch. Not even the track noise or wasps dented our enjoyment. Lovely hotel & great staff on both the hotel & spa side.
Really want to highlight the fantastic service from one of the restaurant team - Toby. He was outstanding on the Sunday night's dinner service. His professionalism, politeness & efficiency really stood out. We travel widely in U.K. & abroad and have received much worse service from Michelin starred restaurants. This is a young man with a great future in hospitality - & we would be lucky to have him serve us again.
(The food was also excellent)
There is a great team at this hotel who work really hard to deliver an unusually high level of service.
Pleasant stay
Rachel Lon 08/08/2017 21:48The service in the bar and at breakfast was good and appreciated. The pool was a nice temperature and the changing rooms were clean. It would be better to have a purpose built area for used towels but everyone seemed to leave them in a pile on the bench.
The downside was our lack of greeting at reception on arrival, a smile and warm welcome should be standard, in my opinion.
Would revisit though, with my own pillow. Mattress was great but pillow wasn't to my liking.
