The Hotel has some real maintenance issues. The worst biscuits and gravy I have ever had. They sell memberships to their pool The Gym equipment is out of date. The parking Lot is nice size. Easy to get to downtown Louisville

Old, beds are old. Smells, bad neighborhood. Had random people walking in and out of the property.

Old, smelled bad, dirty, bad neighborhood. I would not recommend this place at all. It served a purpose of getting rest, but not very well. The beds are 1980s and they are horribly soft. I would recommend staying spending the extra 20 to get a better place.

AWFUL

We had an awful experience! From the minute we pulled up to the front doors I was terrified and wanted my money back. There were 3 crackheads blocking the stairway and no one putting in any effort to run them off. The interior of the hotel was in terrible shape. Upon pulling around to the back of the building we found more sketchy dealings going on. The breakfast was not good and no waffle makers in site like I'd seen pictures of them having. The beds were tiny and hard as a rock. Very very disappointed!!!! The hotel is obviously in desperate need of new management because it has the potential for greatness but far far from that now! They claim to be remodeling. However that doesn't explain for all the shady characters just chilling in their parking lots. As you can tell by photos the walls that have been repainted have terrible patch jobs over holes and a crappy painting job!

We stay at the Breckinridge often when visiting our children in Louisville. Rooms are large, price is right, sometimes we use the large indoor pool (which now requires the use of wristbands, four of which were allotted us each day, limiting our bringing the grandchildren over. This time we stayed on the second floor, close to the elevator (which we thankfully never heard). The remodeled lobby and breakfast room improve the look of the first floor. My two big frustrations are the absence of a mini-fridge and microwave in the room and the limited breakfast menu (although they have improved over several years ago).

2nd time here

We stopped in Louisville on the way from Florida to Illinois again this summer, and we opted to come back to a memorable hotel, the Breckinridge Inn. Again we had a room with two beds, but this time we requested - and got - a rollaway bed so that the kids would not fight about sharing a bed. We arrived super late (around midnight locally), and we did not have the most auspicious beginning to our stay... walking into that entrance of the building, we were almost choking on cigarette smoke and thought we must have been assigned a smoking room by mistake. To our relief, the room itself was fresh and non-smoking. However, the requested rollaway bed was missing, as was the remote control to the TV. The room was clean except for some mystery white stuff that seemed to have been sprayed around the perimeter, so I think they at least take extermination seriously. That was a little off-putting, but the rest of the room was truly clean. We called the front desk, and both the remote and the rollaway bed were delivered quickly.

The swimming pools were the main reason for our return to the Breckinridge, and although the indoor pool was a bit too crowded for our taste when we visited this time, the outdoor pool did not disappoint. One look around at the picturesque white fence, chaise lounges, green grass, and small statuary surrounding the beautiful pool reminded me of why I found it so charming several years ago. We had a delightful time in the pool before it was time to check out and head home.

Breakfast was included but not special. OK for being free. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who loves a good value, loves swimming, loves things that are a bit quirky or original, and who isn't looking for a cookie-cutter corporate hotel or luxury anything. The bathroom is small, the room is a bit dated, the hallways are a bit of a maze, and the breakfast is just OK, but the charm is in the history, the character, and certainly, the pools.
