Beautiful Escape
Ed Non 16/08/2017 03:21My fiancé and I stayed one night in the lovely Peck room. Like the rest of the house, it was beautifully decorated with lovely accent colors and clear attention to detail. The bedding was soft and comfortable and the in-room bath suite was spacious and convenient. The entire property has a wonderful old-world charm and feels almost like you're in the Victorian Era, but with today's comforts such as wifi and AC. Michelle was a great host, and cooked up delicious omelets and her scrumptious coffee cake for breakfast, which we ate over fascinating conversation with her and her husband Joe. They both made us feel right at home. My fiancé even got a chance to play the baby grand piano in the parlor! The Inn is an excellent getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Mother's Day Tea
feliciawjnon 09/08/2017 19:19The Inn is beautiful and the food is delicious. Michelle Natale owner of the B&B pays attention to every little detail to make sure your experience is perfect. I live locally and Michelle offers High Tea on Mother's day and Christmass. She bakes home made scones and cookies plus offers watercress and cucumber sandwiches. I especially enjoyed the watermelon soup :) Her home is warm and inviting. For Cycle enthusiasts, the Inn is a perfect place to rest overnight and continue on your journey up to Bear Mountain the next day.
Warm and inviting BnB
Alison Don 28/07/2017 02:36This is a charming B&B where the hosts, Michelle and Joe were so warm and welcoming, and the accommodations very comfortable, clean and attractive, with lovely antique furniture throughout the house and bedrooms. The breakfasts that Michelle prepared were delicious. Our first morning, we had fresh cut up fruit, homemade banana nut bread, and were offered eggs cooked to our choice (we had delicious sauteed vegetable omelettes). Our second morning, we had a yogurt/fruit/granola parfait, homemade lemon poppyseed scones with honey butter and homemade strawberry jam, and again an offer of eggs any style (I had an omelette, my friend had scrambled) which came with toasted english muffins and bacon). Michelle was a great help in suggesting various sites to see, restaurants to visit, and made us an appointment to have a manicure/pedicure in Haverstraw. In the living room were homemade chocolate chip cookies and a variety of teas/coffees/sodas which we could help ourselves to. We felt very much at home and yet very pampered. There is a train track behind the house but it seems there are lots of train tracks in that area and going up to Cold Springs (a day trip we made) - so while there were the sounds of horns our first night, the tracks are well made and we could not hear any clickety clacking! We did not hear any trains our second night, except one that morning - and again, just the horn because trains cross an intersection near the house. Our bathroom was very clean and we loved the thick white towels. In our bedroom were thick white bathrobes to use, which was a very nice extra touch. We found this inn on-line and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable experience in a warm and inviting home.
Charming and homey
kimdemariaon 26/07/2017 19:35We stayed for just one evening but thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality. The Inn was beautiful and very clean. We were headed out for the day but they allowed us to check in early which was nice. We were there for our anniversary so a sign greeted us in our room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious--best scones!! Every little detail about the room, breakfast, nightcap in our room, goodies in the living room, hospitality frig with cold beverages, places to visit, and I could keep going, were all taken care of and considerately thought out. Thanks for a great stay! We plan to come back!
Beautiful BnB with true hospitality
Christina Won 05/07/2017 16:06We stayed for 2 nights and checked in early - every detail from the initial arranging of the checking in early to checking out our final day was wonderful.
The decor is the old-fashioned type - perfectly suitable to the historical building - I'm talking about needlepoint, china displays in cabinets, tapestry on the walls, a piano (!) in the morning room. Michelle met us at the door and showed us around - she and Joe were wonderful hosts, highlighting various things to do around the region as my husband and I were planless when we arrived.
The breakfast is like breakfast at a really nice hotel - served by Michelle and you get to sit down with any other travelers that are staying at the inn. We had a great conversation with another couple from the NY region and enjoyed a delicious lingering breakfast. The comfort touches in the room were appreciated - from the extra shampoo/conditioner provided, as well as other amenities if you forgot anything, and the cream sherry and water pitcher in the room, cookies and tea/coffee in the living room. These are just not touches you get at a hotel.
The porch is great for people-watching and if you're there on the 4th of July weekend, for catching the fireworks without braving the crowds on the waterfront! The restaurants in the area are great and walkable. Haverstraw is within a short distance to a number of Hudson Valleyl attractions, and the free parking and reasonable rate were the icing on the cake.
We truly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return if we are staying in the area again in the future.
