What People are saying

Good pub food.

Gillian Son 09/07/2017 12:44

Group of us had an evening meal here while on a barge holiday. Good pub food, those of us that had the steak really enjoyed a good tasty meal. Two had steak pie with a poor pastry topping but tasty meat.

Horrible rooms

The positives.
Very good food served in newly refurbished pub/restaurant, always piping hot. Good prices and Sunday lunch was the best i have had in ages. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location. car parking is not reserved and we were left with nowhere to park on saturday. As one of us has mobility issues this was concerning. We chose the hotel as we were informed that there was parking for residents. The hotel said they would pay for our parking in a car park down the road, not helpful if you struggle to walk . The problem was late at night there was still no parking spaces so my husband couldn't have a drink as we were waiting for a car to leave the car park, so he could move our car into the space. If a car had not moved my husband would have had to go and put a new parking ticket in the car at 7. 30 the following morning. So be warned the parking is not guaranteed.

The negatives

The rooms are appalling, how the owners have the audacity to charge £80 was beyond our comprehension. We are well travelled in the B&B world (over 40 years and approximately the same for establishments ) and we have only ever found one hotel with rooms worse than this. They don't just need an upgrade like some reviews say they need a damn good deep clean, including the carpets which in all three rooms we were shown had stains on. ( didn't look like recent stains) This is not what you want to see when you have just stepped into a bedroom, especially at these prices! We eventually decided to stay in the room at the front, as we didnt have any other option, this had ripped and peeling wallpaper, dirty carpet as soon as you walked in the room and gloss paint that hadn't been touched for many many years. We were informed by another couple it was like this when they stayed there over 13 years ago. We can do basic, we can do old fashioned, we can do minimilist and modern but this really was beyond a joke for £80. The stair way up to the rooms was disgusting and the doors and handrail were dirty, they had not been wipped down properly for many moths if ever. All the paper was ripped and scuffed on the stairway and the paintwork was horrendous in these parts of the hotel. We did try and move on the first day but there were no vacancies in the area. If we had not booked and paid for trips we would have asked for a refund and come home. We met a couple who were return visitors, so people must go back but neither myself or my husband would stay again not even for free, not until the bedrooms and staircase have been throughly cleaned and decorated. What a shame to have the establishment refurbished but leave the rooms and staircase for residents in such dire need of painting and cleaning. One positive the bed sheets were clean as was the plentiful supply of towels, and the bathroom was fairly clean this was the only positive to the rooms we saw, three in all. We really do not like leaving bad reviews but in this case we had no choice. If you don't mind this kind of accommodation then it will be fine, otherwise choose somewhere different.

Hotel owners check the stained carpets, your peeling dirty wallpaper, the dust on the window ledges near the glass panels on your stairs and corridors, the dust on the top of the door in the bathroom in room 3, the dirty doors you have to touch to get up and down the stairs and the dirty stair rail. Is it that you are just use to it and do not see it.

Save the bridge inn for food , which like their breakfast was very good.

Convenient location

Teithwyron 02/06/2017 19:22

The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Llangollen and has a small but adequate car park at the rear. The restaurant was closed for two days when we were there. No explanation given. The room was small but adequate for a short stay and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom shower was not up to modern standards and the hotel as a whole felt like it needed repainting and refurbishment.

Sunday lunch

We Had a roast lamb dinner this afternoon at the bridge end and it was absolutely gorgeous. The lamb was so tender and veg cooked to perfection! Will definately be retuning for another Sunday lunch soon.

nice but a bit dark and dull.

Visited here after we had been on our barge trip,it was nice to be able to pop in for a dry refuge during a rainstorm.the staff were friendly they did not rush us out even though we had only ordered two soft drinks.the only thing it could do with brightning up inside.but i would recommend it other day trippers to go here.
