What People are saying

Good food, good service for early dinner

fgwbitaon 10/08/2017 22:13

We stopped here to have dinner while camping up on Sonora Pass. Small town, didn't expect much. But the food was good, well priced, and served by pleasant and friendly staff. We had simple fare ( burgers and fish and chips) but those around us had steaks etc. and it looked real good, and their remarks confirmed it was delicious. Small, a little rustic, and friendly. If you are on hwy 395 at a meal time, I would stop. Tons of history in the area, as well as the largest ranch in California (Centennial Ranch.)

?¿¿¿¿¿¿? That all i can say!
Room wasn't ready @ the right time!
Offered appetizers but never got any
Wound not stay again!
Food Was up to Par!
Rooms was cleaned up!
friends stayed in the Cowboy Room had to share restroom.
The kicker is the Room was a 100.00 per night!
My Wife and i stayed in the Mark Twain Room!
In witch it has a picture of him! Lol
The A/C unit was about ro fall out of the window!
Ask for extra blankets because we rode motorcycles and did catch some rain and we were cold!
The receptionist wasn't too happy with us.

Quaint, nice staff, but overpriced and poorly maintained

As with many hotels in this category, this one isn't worth the money we paid.

Positives: friendly staff, quaint location, and historic feel of the inn.

Negatives: poorly maintained guest rooms - peeling wallpaper; bad in-window AC with see-through curtains; broken hot water tap; bad wifi; slightly overpriced restaurant.

This place has potential though, and with good management it could be turned into a real gem.

Very bad experience

We booked several month ago via Hotels.com but when we arrived at the Inn they told us that the reservation was cancelled the day before. However I had recieved a confirmation by e-mail the day before. The Inn's reply is that "last minute reservations" with a creditcard are not garantied wich Hotels.com doesen't tell you". I booked several months in advance WITH my creditcard so this is not a "Last minute reservation". Further the lady in the reception was not helpfull at all in finding another place to stay. We finally ended up 50 miles away in Nevada but not by the receptionists help but by a nice couples recommandation.

Quaint Hotel - poor service

I stopped here on my drive from Death Valley to San Francisco. I had reserved a private room with a shared bath in the hotel. The room was very pretty and the bathroom was clean. I came to check in around 3pm and two of the office staff were discussing how they should handle a tip from someone in the garden. They looked up and said, "What do you want?" I said that I had a reservation and then I was asked if it was for dinner or for a room! I said I had reserved a room and then they continued to discuss what to do about the tip. Eventually they got around to checking me in.

I had dinner that evening in the garden and the service was terrible. Perhaps the staff was new. They seem to have a hard time keeping track of the guests and their orders. There were only about 6 people eating.

I left around 6:30am to get a good start on my drive and the exit door was locked. The staff member who was on duty opened the door and then locked it behind me. I put my things in the car and then came back for a cup of coffee. I had to knock and the same staff member came to the door to ask again, "What do you want?" I came in to get a cup of coffee and then went to sit on the balcony to drink my coffee and enjoy the morning. She immediately came out and shooed me away so that she could wipe the counter! I was the only guest there.

I was only there one night but there were no smiles, no "welcome" or "How was your trip?" The maid who was vacuuming the hall when I left was very sweet and the woman planting flowers when I arrived was pleasant but the rest of the staff seemed very indifferent to their guests.

As a solo traveler, this was not a pleasant experience.

This is the first negative review I have written.
