What People are saying

Served the purpose

I used the hotel as a quick stop on my way to Ambois, The exterior was not appealing at all, and the surroundings were industrial; and I wasn't crazy about the inside either (maybe it didn't help that it was a Sunday evening and everything look dead...we felt we were the only guests in the hotel but were relieved to see other customers later), the room was ok, spacious bathroom, wifi didn't work in the room initially so we went down to the reception and it did work there, the receptionist was friendly, we ended up enjoying a drink at the bar while checking the Internet (when we got back to the room we were able to pick up the internet signal in the room, not strong but it worked), the beds were comfortable, we heard a humming noise all night (Probably the pool pump's motor...we saw a pool from our room window), the next morning had breakfast at the hotel, it was good but the only egg option was cold boiled eggs...the pastries and coffee were good though, in sum it served the purpose as a decent hotel for a quick stop

Comfortable hotel

This hotel was just what we needed after traveling around Europe on motorbikes for 17 days.
The heating in the room was really good which allowed us to dry our motorbike gear - It was raining heavily when we arrived.
I couldn't fault anything about the room, the bathroom or the bar.
Breakfast was good, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice.
The comedy roundabout was wonderful entertainment. To see cars wildly slide off in all directions was an absolute pleasure.
I would definitely visit this hotel again (unless they re-surface the road).

Magic roundabout

I stayed here for two nights when the Motogp was on at Le Mans. The hotel is decent enough with comfortable rooms etc and a restaurant next door (not open Sundays but other eating places are nearby). What truly made this hotel exceptional was the roundabout on its doorstep.

Whilst sitting in the restaurant next door on the Saturday evening I looked up to see an old Renault van perform a pirouette as it traversed the roundabout, ending up facing the wrong way into the oncoming traffic which was a surprise to me and an even greater surprise one would assume to the driver of the van. I didn’t think much of it until the second night after we got back from the races at Le Mans (about 40 mins away).
We arrived back in the rain and having parked our motorcycles right outside reception were about to enter the hotel when lo and behold a car spun on the roundabout and ended facing the wrong way into rush hour traffic. Realising that this was more than a coincidence we went to our room which overlooked the scene and spent the next four hours watching car after car approach this seemingly innocent stretch of road. Around every 100 or so cars resulted in one spinning out, it was quite a regular occurrence with some actually mounting the roundabout itself. Some drivers got out to investigate. Some panicked and put their hazards on and went to investigate if they had a flat tyre. On one occasion two cars slid off at the same time.
We investigated the road surface when we went to have food, expecting there to be diesel or oil but there was nothing – just a little bumpiness to the road surface and a little rain. It appeared that if drivers approached it too fast with old tyres, they just span off. We even woke in the middle of the night as one car nearly ended in the hotel car park (park away from the roundabout is my advice!).
The hotel staff spoke minimal English and my French is shocking but by gesticulating wildly and showing them the video footage of the carnage we had filmed on an iphone they seemed surprised and shocked but totally unconcerned. The Gendarmerie arrived on the scene at one point when a car had spun off and drove off without stopping. I’m surprised no-one knew about this truly remarkable piece of tarmac. One thing I can say is that if you stay here, pray for rain as it’s hilarious.
