Good value
bohawkson 18/07/2016 16:22Overall very good, but... Room requests that had been helpfully acknowledged via email hadn't been enacted on arrival but were rectified by reception when we discovered that the allocated room didn't match the requests.
We had also checked restaurant arrangements for dinner with the hotel in advance as we were aware that we would be arriving on Bastille Day and were informed of opening hours - but on arrival discovered that the restaurant was closed.
Reception suggested two alternatives, both 2km away in opposite directions.
The room was compact but had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was modern and clean with a great shower. The window opened which was fine for us but there was no air-con so in hot weather it might not be enough. Car parking was spacious and secure.
Friendly, helpful staff, jaded hotel.
Hilary Con 28/09/2014 21:32Ideal location en route to Calais. Friendly staff, but hotel tired and jaded and the food was not very good. Reasonable price for the room but we thought the meal was expensive for what it was. The room was clean and adequate.
Oh dear!
NigelHayon 13/06/2014 11:00Having recently stayed at two excellent Brit Hotels in St Malo and Fougeres we thought we would try this hotel as an overnight stop on our way from London to the Dordogne. Our sat nav found the hotel ,without this it would have been very hard and first impressions were not great with unkempt flower beds and dirty carpets to the entrance foyer. We had booked using the Brit Hotel website which offered us a special price for dinner bed and breakfast. On arrival we were told this was NOt available to us as we were not on business!
We had requested a room that was suitable for a guest In a wheelchair and the room we were allocated may have been such a room although it's location on the first floor would have made an emergency evacuation difficult.
The room was tired , carpet had holes in places, and the bedside lights did not work. With some trepidation we took dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent. The waitress was charming and the menu and food were really very acceptable as was breakfast.
When we came to check-out the card payment machine would not accept any of the 5 cards that we offered and we had to walk into town to withdraw cash from the bank. St Jean de Braye seems an interesting place with really excellent public gardens and planting but I fear we shall not stay here again.
Come on Brit. Hotels and give this place a much needed refresh to brng it up to your new standards.

Clean room and super friendly service. Perfect stopover.
graskaason 14/07/2013 08:19The friendly people at the reception make this a perfect stop en route south. We were advised to go here from a chambre d'haute chez brian which was full on arriving late on the 14th july holiday weekend (book ahead people).
Forget about f1 and go brit.
Price for a double is 65. Rooms are clean but not spacious. 5min to the highway.
