What People are saying

Great location - housekeeping not good

Jacqui Gon 14/08/2017 14:14

I booked this hotel for a family member staying for one night. They said it was very central, breakfast was good but service was poor from a lady but excellent from Lance. Sadly their door only closed when banged very loudly and there was blood on the sheets. Not quite what I would have wanted for them.

Faulty towers in a good way

Just come back from staying in this hotel for three nights, and throughly enjoyed it, yes it does need updating and there are a few minor issues, but the rooms are lovely and clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff in the restaurant and reception are lovely, and the food was very nice, I would defiantly stay here again. Nice atmosphere.

Tired

Hotel siuated very central for transport links and city visit.
It's a shame the hotel doesn't have better housekeeping as this is a big let down; the amount of dust and general cleanliness was very poor.

Food -
Evening meal - All the vegetables looked as if they'd been around a long time, not very appetizing and bland.
Breakfast - Good variety but again food looked tired.

However on a positive note - The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, with clean bed linen and towels. Also hot shower and trouser press.

Not like the photos...

Emma Eon 06/08/2017 21:02

I stayed in the Britannia hotel only for 1 night as leisure and was absolutely disgusted with the room/s.

I was reluctant to book in the first place but the photos online convinced me otherwise. So I booked a double room for 1.

I arrived at the hotel to a friendly and happy face- Lance. He was fantastic. I then got into my room. Well it was definitely not like the photos online. I felt like I would get dirty using the bath and the toilet seat was that mobile it couldn't be used. Im not one to complain, I'd usually just deal with things but as I paid nearly £60 for 1 night because the photos looked great, I had to say something. I rang down to reception and explained the situation. They asked me to head back down to reception to move rooms.
I was given one of the upgraded rooms on the fifth floor. This room was definitely so much better and more like the photos. Although there were still some marks here and there in the room, it was still a lot better than the previous one.

Overall in the end it was an enjoyable quiet stay and the staff were very friendly. Average rating.

Better by Group Booking

Pamela Gon 30/07/2017 10:38

Travelled to hotel by coach in large party booking.
Rooms were mostly on the third floor so older people needed the lift.
Rooms were clean and my husband and I had nice view of the courtyard and Coventry Cathedral situated nearby.
Unfortunately the room was very hot and stuffy and we had to leave the windows open all the time to get fresh air.
The meals were very good and the food was plentiful.
Service was very quick and the staff in the restaurant seemed to be rushing to meet some sort of deadline to clear the tables. Plates were whisked away as soon as we had consumed our food.
The coffee and tea was self service and was served from vacuum flasks. This was pretty awful.
We enjoyed the food because it was well presented and nicely cooked.
We slept well as the bed was comfortable.
The tea and coffee provided in our room was better than in the restaurant and it was frequently refilled.
The cleaners we encountered were extremely polite and friendly but we did not see much of the staff in reception as we were happy with our stay.
Also we stayed with a friendly group of people at the hotel so the holiday was great fun anyway.
The hotel was very well situated for taxis, Coventry Cathedral, the Motor Museum, shopping centre and parks. There was a Leisure Centre and pool next door.
We enjoyed our stay there.
