What People are saying

Hourly Rate

While in Red Hook, Brooklyn we decided to check into a hotel, or Inn for the night. We called the Brooklyn Motor Inn for their rate. They gave us an hourly and daily rate which we thought was strange, but we went anyway. While going to the front desk I observed a couple arguing and some guys standing inside the lobby. At the front desk I was given a different rate than quoted on the phone 10 minutes earlier, and in addition the clerk asked for ID for each person staying in the room. Needless to say, we did not check in or even look back. I definitely would not recommend this place.

Uncomfortable

While reserving our roo, my partner was informed by the attendant that he needed both of our IDs. When I asked why, I was told it was a new policy. I then asked why the policy was created and was told it was for "security purposes". I've been to this location several times prior with my partner and never had to provide my identification, since he was the one reserving the room. The more I thought about it the more I disagreed with the policy for several reasons. Since the manager was there as well, I asked him about the new policy and was told "No one is being forced to stay here. If you don't like it, you can stay somewhere else". Considering there's nothing remotely special or even really good about this establishment, except maybe the location, that is exactly what I plan on doing. Those of you who don't mind presenting ID'S for everyone staying in the room are welcome to ALL the rooms at Brooklyn Motor Inn.

Beautiful and was a life saver for us

With how underrated this hotel was helpped us get a room after our amtrak came in late and all hotels were booked solid even the Days inn. It was a bit intimidating but it was already 2am and we needed a place despite not wanting to come down this far. The hotel is small but it is more than worth the cost. There is only one elevator in here but it is three floors. The elevator was working during our stay. all guests even the ones not paying for the room need their ids for their room but parking is free. Check-in was very painless and were very nice. They have waterfall showers and water was very warm. We were in 314 and there's a window right outside the room that overlooks manhatten past the construction. True the view is not the best but it more than makes up for it. The room has a fridge and a microwave. There was an impressionism type painting over the bed. The only faults i can say is that the room is very small. The bed and desk take up most of the room leaving thin walkways to get to spots in the room but it's manageable.

So the hotel was nice and overall it was clean. The location was nice. I never felt unsafe walking back at 3 am. By car the trip to Manhattan is about 35-45 min by car. The hotel is about a 5 min walk from the bus stop to get to the subway which is much cheaper then any car service. We paid $130 a night for a 3 night stay. Paid $68 to book and was to pay $340 upon arrival. Not how it happened. Paid $455 when we arrived! Couldn't figure it out. Didnt add up. No explanation. Then we paid $60 for late check out and ended up checking out on time. They refused a refund. So would I stay again? Yes. But I wouldn't pay without a detailed list for costs and I wouldn't bother with a late checkout just in case.

Basic room with clean ensuite, Free parking, but Uneasy feeling...

We stayed here as it is one of the closest hotels to the Brooklyn cruise terminal and has free parking. There appears to be some renovation work going on as there was building stuff in the parking lot. The lobby was clean and modern. The first guy who started check in was really pleasant but he left and turned everything over to a guy who didn't speak much English. The elevator didn't work and didn't smell too good either. The corridors were a bit worn and not too clean.
The room was small but clean and modern with a great en suite... a very large shower. Not much of a view; just the road. The ac was cold but noisy and the street noise started early with a trash truck depot or something nearby. There seemed to be a lot of comings and goings in the hotel which gives an uneasy feeling. We just didn't feel safe or comfortable.
We had a night's sleep, got up early, and were off. We had plans for breakfast so I don't know what they offer if anything. There may have been better choices in the area or a bit farther afield but, this was close to the port and we had a relatively inexpensive room for the night.
