Brooks was here / So was Red
Bwatsweedson 18/08/2017 19:36Do you remember in Shawshank Redemption when Brooks kills himself? He couldn't have done so in this guesthouse because the room was too small! We had the "small double" which apparently we requested. No young lady, we just requested the double, I checked the emails and everything! But no matter, its a very nice elegant hotel in a great location of a vibrant citie.
Weekend with the Girls!
Carlene Con 15/08/2017 07:37The guest house is very pleasing to the eye in a superb location that's close to all amenities. My friends and I shared a room at the top floor suitable for a family sharing. We all agreed the guest house would be perfect for a hen party with novelty caravans on the roof and close to the bars. My friends (from south) did both agree that the seagulls in the middle of the night and early hours were very loud, so be prepared to have broken sleep or pack some ear plugs. The room we had, had trouble with the shower over flowing and the water wasn't going quick enough. My friend also had issues with the bed slacks giving away in the middle of the night other than that, it's a cute well kept guest house.
We didn't have breakfast here as we felt £9.50 was expensive for it.
Nearly perfect stay!
Amazing stay!!
pegs89on 07/08/2017 15:22I stayed at Brooks guest house the night before my wedding. We had a number of rooms booked and all 4 rockets. I can not speak highly enough of Brooks, the amazing staff were so accommodating, especially Jasmine who was brilliant. The rockets are awesome, what a special treat to stay in them. Lots of space downstairs and they are happy for you to bring in your own alcohol and food. I even had a bottle of bubbly from them in my rocket as a good luck for the wedding. Thank you for a wonderful stay and a very special start to my wedding celebrations.
Avoid the rocket caravans
mikenwinnon 06/08/2017 16:12We stayed in one of the rocket caravans here for two nights in august 2017, which sounded quite a fun experience, but I would thoroughly discourage others from going for the caravan option.
The rocket room smelt very damp and musty so We opened all the windows and mentioned it to the receptionist on our way out for a walk. when we Returned to the room later, we could not open the door to the room, no matter how hard we tried. Even the girl on reception, who tried her best to help, was also unable to open the door so moved us into another room (without our things which were still locked in the original room).
I went out for some dinner, and when I came back the receptionist had managed to speak to the manager and worked out the unique technique apparently required to open the door - so I moved all our things into our new room and went to bed.
To our disbelief, the next afternoon while we were out shopping we had a phone call saying that we couldn't stay in the new room any longer and the hotel staff were going to pack up our things and move them back to our original room while we were out. It seemed patently obvious by moving all of our unpacked things from one room to the other that we had an expectation we would be staying in the new room and up until that point nothing had been said to the contrary.
While I was grateful for the efforts of the new, inexperienced receptionist who seemed to try her hardest to help us, overall I was very unhappy with the quality of the rocket caravan room and the lack of clarity about the subsequent room rearrangements.
So, while the rockets look like fun, the damp, quirky locks and also noise from the nearby beer gardens all added up to a pretty unsatisfactory experience given the relatively high price. This wasn't helped by the poor communication and management from the manager when dealing with our complaint.
That being said, the location is very central and the breakfast was great. Just avoid the caravans....
Something a bit different...
Colin Fon 25/07/2017 17:38Travelling on business I have stayed here several times. It is a trendy, boutique hotel/bed and breakfast in a superb central location in Bristol near markets, restaurants and bars.
I try and avoid the corporate business hotels and go for something different and Brooks Guesthouse never disappoints. This visit I am staying in a Rocket Caravan on top of the roof overlooking the city.
The breakfast is always superb, freshly cooked and locally sourced. I thoroughly recommend it.
