A special bed and breakfast with amazing mountain views
Calef71on 18/08/2017 15:20We spent three wonderful nights in the blue room on the second floor during our first visit to the Great Smoky Mountains. The Inn is a beautiful historic building with that has been preserved with loving care. Lots of local photos and history grace the walls. A wonderful delicious breakfast with homemade biscuits and muffins along with eggs made to order is served each morning. The fresh fruit pancakes and waffles are to die for. The Inn keeper John came around each morning to say hi and chat about our plan's.
This is a relaxing place with wood floors and comfortable beds. Internet access in our room was spotty at best , but it gave us a great reason to go down to the sitting room where the signal was perfect. There we could partake in coffee, tea, cookies, and my favorite, the blonde brownies.
The grounds have a nature trail and a pond with flowers and wildlife. It's a short drive into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge and is close to all that is special about the mountains.
We will be back again the next time we go to the moutains to this special place.
Absolutely loved it!
KayPoe_Ozon 16/08/2017 16:41Great bed and breakfast about a 10 min drive from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
We arrived late at night and there were very clear instructions provided for the cottage. The cottage itself was spacious and clean. The shower was not built for tall people, but that's a very minor quibble. Quiet location and beautiful grounds! We even saw a tiny turtle wandering around.
The breakfast was very tasty (a la carte) but the pre-fixe dinner was a highlight. The kitchen staff were happy to make a couple of substitutions and had lovely decorations on the table for a birthday celebration. Staff even wrapped up the leftover breakfast pastries and gave us a couple of extras for our day hike.
We loved our stay and would definitely come back.
Family reunion in Smokies
foodandtravelisfunon 16/08/2017 13:59Our extended family gathered to celebrate an 80th birthday at the Buckhorn Inn this weekend. We had the Bebb, Webb and Lindsay houses which were very comfortable for our group, although the Webb house is in a different location on the large property. These houses vary in style and decor, and are actually larger than described on the website. The Webb and Bebb houses each have a bonus room, which make them more accommodating! These bonus rooms don't offer complete privacy; in the Webb it is an open loft with a king bed and private bath and in the Bebb, it is an additional bedroom (no private bath) added to the second bedroom which you must pass through to reach. So if complete privacy isn't a big concern, these houses are perfect and well priced for a family or group. The hosts were very accommodating of our changing needs. We were able to have a private birthday party in the library adjacent to the main dining room and the staff added our decorations, served our cake and worked with us on the menu. The breakfasts were all delicious, as were the cookies and baked goods served each afternoon. We could sit and socialize in the living area within the library long after dinner ended. Just a nice, relaxed and very beautiful venue for this celebratory weekend and it isn't in the heart of the congested, commercial area of Gatlinburg, but close to the artistic, more laid back shopping region of Gatlinburg.
Words cannot describe this place....
Jeff Won 14/08/2017 19:02Went for only one night but I am a return customer... You can always tell you are at a quality establishment when you see the same faces working there you saw many years ago...
Check-in was a breeze. Our cottage was very clean, just the perfect size for a couple and was extremely comfortable. All linens were crisp and clean with plenty of extra blankets and such. There was a deck and a screened in porch. We sat on the porch in a lovely storm and watched as the clouds crept fby Mt LeConte... Do your self and check this place out...
The cottage itself is just a short stroll from the Inn. We walked over for breakfast ( included in the price) and were met with smiles all around. There was a small bowl of fruit at each place and the coffee was fresh and hot.. Next, biscuits and cakes in a basket while you order your entree..... I had the Bananas Foster french toast and bacon. My friend had the western omelet and it was AMAZING.
Love the Buckhorn Inn and have been going for several years
