Wonderful staff made our visit great!
Tony500Tonyon 31/07/2017 23:19My wife and myself booked up for a couple of nights to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversay, and I am so glad we did.
From the moment we arrived to when we left we were treated very well indeed.
We were unsure whether to eat in the hotel, but our minds were made up when the receptionist informed us that our daughter had paid for dinner!
The food was exceptional, and the service great too. Our desserts had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate!
We were upgraded on our second night due to our room being double booked, we were given the Master Suite, Primrose (all the rooms appeared to be named after flowers).
The location was a two sided coin; remote, calm and peaceful, but with those very narrow, single track, approach roads you could spoil the paintwork of your car if you're not careful.
All in all a very enjoyable experience, which we would both be happy to do again.
A bit sloppy around the edges.........
Mark8484on 24/07/2017 15:34Had a single night stopover here a couple of weeks ago on our way to the West Country. Pretty countryside setting and good sized bedroom and bathroom.
Room wasn't the one we thought we had booked, but nonetheless wasn't worth the move when we were offered another. Room hadn't been cleaned properly with obvious signs on the carpet of previous occupation. Windows were dirty and covered externally in cobwebs, perhaps that time of year?
Ordered cream teas on the attractive south facing terrace. Bottle tops, fag ends and balloons still in situ from the previous days wedding celebrations. The tea arrived, then the cutlery and then after a prompt and considerable wait so did the scones.
Dinner saved the situation. Excellent dinner, well presented, imaginative menu, decent well priced bottle of wine - well done chef. Pity about the whining dogs tethered to the reception desk just outside the dining room, owners in the dining room apparently.
It's not what it's cracked up to be and some basic management attention could get this place back on track.
Great staff make the hotel
StourbridgeMikeon 20/07/2017 11:25Stayed 2 nights with evening meal on first night, would have eaten there second night but rather disappointed with the choice of dishes, only 3 to choose from both nights on either menu, the quality of food was excellent had no complaint.Room was upgraded by the everhelp full Kim,took pity on me as both knees worn out with arthritis and she had doubts I could climb 2-3flights,so many thanks Kim.
Hotel in delightful situation ,lanes a bit tight but only 3 miles to Kingsbridge, all in all we could not fault the staff, nothing seemed too much trouble, little niggle the wardrobe door could do with a spray of W.D40! but apart from that I highly recommend this hotel.
An oasis of calm in busy South Devon
mumsoutagainon 03/07/2017 17:14We stayed here for 3 nights. We were looking for a quiet country house style hotel, with excellent rooms and top quality dining. We found all this at Buckland-Tout-Saints.
Once you get passed the accessibility down small country lanes this gem of a hotel is before you. We had excellent, very well appointed good sized bedrooms, dined in style and enjoyed a relalxing hospitable time. A big thank you to all the team for making our visit so pleasurable.
HOTEL REMOTE
suelydellon 28/06/2017 15:24We stayed here for 2 nights the setting is very pleasant with lovely views unfortunately the only road in & out of the hotel is by single track roads. We were in room, 11, whilst the room was spacious and clean we were disappointed with the bathroom. The access was via 3 stairs. The shower was the type you have to hold which can be difficult also no shower curtain. Once my husband was standing in the bath his head was touching the ceiling so had to kneel in the bath to take a shower. On the 1st night we wanted to dine in the restaurant which turned out to be fine dinning. Only a choice of 3 meals Lamb, Fish & vegetarian or the same on a la carte including duck. My husband asked if he could have a steak as he did not like anything on offer. He was told no. He chose Lamb but it was undercooked & couldn't eat it no one questioned if there was a problem. We found out on 2nd night that there were bars meals available from 6 - 9pm but was not advised of this. We paid £28.95 for a 2 course meal which one of us could not eat. There were very little staff around on the 1st night which meant we had to wait 15mins to be served at the bar & waiter was quite abrupt.
