Loved!
Indiana Con 14/08/2017 23:37OK so getting out of the train station was a bit overwhelming to say the least. It was a little confusing figuring which line was located where, more so with all the other tourists and Venetian pple getting on/off. However once we figured it out the directions Sabine gave us we're pretty easy to follow and we found the bed and breakfast with no issues after getting off at our boat station (only 3 stops from the train station).
Sabine was friendly and super helpful with giving us directions to find our way around. She made a few recommendations and never hesitated or seemed bothered when we asked for directions (again!). Our plans changed one day and we decided to go to the beach. Sabine gave us simple directions and even lent us some beach towels.
The bed and breakfast is about 15 minutes walking to the Rialto bridge which leads you to tons of places to eat, little shops among other fun streets. There is a really good gelato shop around the bed and breakfast which we stopped at every night.
Breakfast was simple but good. Coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, cold cuts, yogurt and pastries w/ jam, butter, etc. Unfortunately for me I was in Venice during one of the worse heat waves Italy has seen since 2003 so although the AC was good, we were still hot during the night. I'm sure on a normal night, you will feel the coolness.
Sabine and the other young lady (apologies as her name slips my mind) were so thoughtful and brought fruit tarts w/ candles to celebrate my niece's (and mine too) birthday's which really made our stay amazing. They even sang happy birthday which made my niece really happy.
I would highly recommend staying here. The rooms were nice, clean and roomy. Sabine was friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. I look forward to visiting Venice again and staying here.
Fantastic quiet and comfortable gem
Peter Fon 13/08/2017 10:17We picked Ca Bonvicini based on the high ratings and great reviews - and its access to both the vaporettos and main tourist sites. The high ratings are quite justified. The service and information from Sabine and other staff was great and they gave great tips on where to go and how to get around. The breakfast was a simple one but all we needed to start the day. The room and bathroom was well fitted out and maintained.
After visiting the busy tourist areas around Rialto Bridge, St Marco and Accademia, we were ever so glad we picked the area that Ca Bonvicini was in. We didn't have the massive crowds and noise like those areas. San Polo was quiet, with tiny, cute laneways but with plenty to see and no shortage of small bars, restaurants and shops around.
We highly recommend Ca Bonvicini!
Ca Bonvicini
Willjackon 10/08/2017 22:12We stayed at the Ca' Bonvicini back in June and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The room was very spacious, one of the largest we have had in Venice. It also came with excellent a/c which made a big difference to how comfortable we were. It has a great location, our room looked onto the canal so that helped to make it quiet in the night. The girls were friendly and provided suggestions for local restaurants. Breakfast was brought into the room - one small quibble was the lack of fruit but we stocked up on that and prosecco at the local store. As we've been to Venice quite a number of times we took more time out this time to visit the other islands - Torcello is definitely worth the visit as it takes you away from the hordes and provides the genesis of the Venetian story. A train trip to Padua also provided an interesting day trip away.
A Beautiful Home!
wasimmoon 05/08/2017 12:58What a little gem!! This beautiful Boutique B&B is tucked down a small alley and the room overlooked the canal. The area was not as busy as other areas, which we loved. The bedroom was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. We arrived early evening and we were given clear instructions how to get to the place. Breakfast was perfect, typical Mediterranean. Sabina was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't praise it enough.
Venice itself was beautiful as expected but I was surprised how friendly the local people were, especially having all the tourists all year! We did the big sights quickly and spent more time in the quieter areas.
At the heart of Venezia
Elliot Mon 01/08/2017 18:22We found Venice to be like a theme park whose theme is Venice. Everything and everyone plays their part. Ca' Bonvicini fits right into the program providing the perfect Venezian place to stay. The antique period furniture in the room we stayed sets the mood perfectly, the small balcony overlooking a secluded quiet canal is the perfect setting. The staff at the Ca' Bonvicini are welcoming, helpful and yet unobtrusive, the perfect hosts providing traditional Italian hospitality.
Ca' Bonvicini is 5 minutes walk away from the Rialto Bridge which for us provided the main link to attractions on the other side of Canal Grande. We found a maps app that we could download offline maps which took us to destinations from Ca' Bonvicini effortlessly.
The breakfast was as described, you book a time slot and a discreet knock at the door brings a tray of Cappuccino and morning treats. For us this allowed for minimal morning interaction with fellow guests and staff - which can be a bonus in itself.
To ensure that you get a canal side balcony you pay a nominal charge which is worth the cost - you will not be disappointed. All in all Ca' Bonvicini provides the perfect get-away, and an ideal place to explore the beauty and history of Venezia.
