Great for 3 Nights
Loraine Von 08/08/2017 13:01We were here in April for a long weekend. The hotel is a couple of streets away from the grand canal but use your google maps to find it! The hotel would not be suitable for anyone who had a problem with stairs - we were at the top and the stairs got steeper. Our room had a separate sitting room which to be quite honest we didn't use very much as we were out exploring the sights. Continental breakfast was included in the small breakfast room. Not much else to say, comfortable room and got the best sleep I'd had in years.
Great 3 night stay in Venice
Jonathan Ron 27/07/2017 16:42My wife and I just finished a 9 night tour of Italy, which ended in Venice (1-year wedding anniversary). Our 3-night stay at Ca'Dell'Arte exceeded my expectations. Despite arriving at the hotel early (noon), we were still greeted and quickly checked in. This did not happen at any preceeding hotels, which made us wait until 2PM on the dot to check in. Marco, who assisted us at the hotel on several occaions, was extremely helpful, kind, and accommodating. He even helped us secure reservations at a nice waterfront restaurant while we were out exploring the city. The hotel itself was not as hard to find as indicated in many reviews. It is literally around 200 feet from the San Seminole ferry stop. It is also close to the San Angelo stop, which you can use to take a ferry boat to the airport instead of spending 100+ Euros on a taxi. As long as you have some kind of sense of direction, it shouldn't take long to find. I recommend using google maps while in Venice. It will navigate you from place to place without much of an issue. I actually thought that the whole minor "search" (which is overexaggerated on tripadvisor), was a good part of the experience. The actual key to our room was also a plus factor. The hotel's decor is very boutique-like and pretty. Despite our room being on the second floor and having to climb the staircase constantly, I have no complaints. Iy was much bigger and well-kept than our other rooms in italy. We literally had an entire attic floor to ourselves. The room was decorated very nicely and was clean. VERY comfortable. From my experience, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would return in the future if Venice was part of my itinerary.
Crooks!!! STAY AWAY
DiSpOsAbLe Hon 05/07/2017 07:31We booked through a travel company for our honeymoon in Italy. Everything up until Venice was amazing. We arrived in Venice and paid a water taxi (honeymoon splurge) 60 euros to take us to our hotel/B&B. We arrive to find a box with our names on it but no staff. Inside the box is a note informing us that we were at the wrong location?!?!? They're were only 4 boxes and the other 3 had keys. After calling our travel company they assured us it was our fault (for going to the address they had given to my travel company) but our room was in their other location only a 15 minute walk. They would not reimburse us for the water taxi nor would they send another to take us to the "correct location". A local who knows the streets in Venice might be able to make it in 15 minutes but tourists with 4 suitcases (2 week honeymoon) can't. 40 minutes later we find the new location which is in a narrow alley off the beaten path but can't get anyone to answer the intercom to let us in. I called my travel company and they couldn't get anyone on the phone nor could I by calling the number posted. A nice woman who barely spoke English has a shop directly across the alley noticed us trying to get someone to answer the door, phone, and intercom for over 30 minutes came and offered to help. She said she knew the owner and would call him. Finally she gets him on the phone and lets us in. Now this is roughly 2 hours after we had stopped at the original address on our booking voucher. We never saw any breakfast that we paid for or directions to where to get it for our entire stay. The room was nice when we finally got in to settle in. Showers are small with only a small glass panel that covers 1/3 of the tub for taking a shower. It is directly above a bar so nights are noisy and not for light sleepers at all. The location is convenient once you find it and figure out how to navigate the narrow alleys. Yes I said alleys not streets. This is definitely off the beaten path. Our last night we arrive back after our dinner to find there is no hot water in the room and after calling the owner/manager was told there was nothing they can do until 9:30-10 the next morning. Our flight was scheduled for 11 which means be at the airport at 8-8:30. So our stay in Venice ended as wonderfully as it began. I would recommend spending my money elsewhere with much better service. Oh and nearly every hotel in the city will book you a water taxi anytime you should need one. This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had and I spend 250 nights a year in hotels.
Comfort & good, price reasonable
Soon1971on 22/06/2017 16:47The 2-room suite that we have booked was comfortable & good, located in a good location with a reasonable price. Checkin & checkout was totally hassle free. You can checkin anytime as they provide a code to enter the main door, and our keys were attached to the door knob.
(Very) hidden treasure
Robin0012016on 17/06/2017 13:53Lovely, delightful hotel tucked away near to Palazzo Grassi in San Marco. Convenient for the waterbus and in a lovely quiet location.
A couple of things to be aware of:
- all rooms are upstairs and it has no elevator (but you should pack light for Venice anyway!)
- the address San Marco 3286 means it is house number 3286 in the whole of the district of San Marco (i.e. there is no road called San Marco)
- Google maps will direct you to the wrong place! The hotel shows up in one place but If you ask for walking directions Google maps will take you somewhere else about 10 minutes and several bridges away (not funny with luggage)
- the hotel is where Calle De Le Carrozze turns into Salizzaria San Samuele (or vice versa).
Once you find it you may never want to stay anywhere else in Venice.
