What People are saying

Nice hotel with a view - but I dont think we will ever come back

patweison 14/08/2017 00:49

We stayed here for one week in August and had a one bedroom aparatment. We have to children that are 11 and 15. The apartment is quite small but pretty nice. The bedroom is small but has a big double bed and the bed is very comfortable.
In the livingroom there is a sofa that looks like a big pullout bed but the bed is not the whole sofa but only a part. The bedsofa is really small. It is for small children and not for ours. They are too big. It was not comfortable for them.
The bathroom is nice although small. The shower is a bit week. The cleaning is good when they do it. We had no cockroaches in the room although we saw same outside. We just been to another hotel in Teneriffa – Hollywood Mirage where we had cockroaches in the bathroom every night. So it was nice not to have to deal with them here.
The terrass belonging to the room is really nice. It has a table with four chairs and two sunbeds. The view is pretty nice although you are looking at big hotels on the other side. But the sea is nice but unfortunately our room was the last one from the sea so we did not see the sunset.
As in most Diamond and RCI places on the Islands they dont clean very often. They dont do the bed everyday but they change towels once or twice during the week and once they change the sheets.
There are a lot of stairs at the hotel if you are futher down.
The hotel is quite big although it feels smaller. The reception is not very impressive but the are really nice there.
They are really nice there. We had som spots on the wall and asked them to clean it and they did it the next day.
The checkout is already at 10 o clock which I find very early because the checkin is at 4 or 5. This is not so nice but it is quite common here.
The hotel was almost full.
The poolarea is nice but it is quite difficult to get chairs if you come around 10 or later. You cant put your towels early in the morning on the seat and leave because the manager goes around and folds up the towels. Even if you take three seats and you are there alone he asks you to not put things on the chairs. That is really nice that they do it. Still it is hard to get seats.
The pool is quite nice and quite big but when the hotel is full it is quite crowded in the pool. On some days the pool did not feel totaly clean. It was a bit salty. If it is from people going to the beach and not shower before they go in or if it is because of all the children – I dont know. I dont know how often they clean the pool but it was not too nice on those days.
The first day when we got there at about 3 o clock we could not check in but could be at the pool. There were no sunbeds available and you cant even sit in the restaurant if you are wet. There were just two bar tables where you could sit. We also waited for pooltowels but never got them. It was not a nice first impression.
But the following days when we got sunbeds it was nice by the pool.
Unfortunately there were trucks with delivery of water every day several times a day to the next hotel or to our hotel. I dont really know. But they were backing up to a ramp over the pool. The trucks made noise as they backed up and pumped in the water. That was really disturbing by the pool.
The restaurant by the pool is nice. We ate lunch there and once dinner. They have the regular food – pizza, pasta, hamburgers etc. The food is good and they are really nice. They try to get you what you want even if it is not on the menu. Very nice. Like we wanted fresh lemonad and they did it for us even if it was not on the menu. And it is not more expensive here then in other places.
You almost have to have a car unless you are really fit and wants to walk a lot. The hotel is on a hill and it is a bit of a walk to get down to the beach. Most hotels in Playa Taurito has all inclusive so there are almost no restaurants. We went to Mogan for dinner because we had a car.
There are not so many parkingplaces but you can rent a parkingplace for 12 euros/week. Very nice!
It was a quite nice stay overall but I dont think we will come back. Gran Canaria is not really our favorite place to visit.

Quiet family holiday & attentive staff !

Helen Won 05/08/2017 15:51

We've just returned from a weeks holiday at Cala Blanca, we just wish it'd been two weeks ! We traveled with British Airways Holidays and not via timeshare so had to pay for a few of the extras that members get for free, safes, internet etc etc but that didn't detract from us having a great holiday. We had a beautiful 2 bed / 2 bath apartment set over 2 floors with spectacular views over Playa Taurito, we had a huge terrace with table & chairs, and two sunbeds. We even had a small balcony upstairs outside the master bedroom, where we enjoyed a cuppa each morning. The pool area was very clean and well maintained and the 'Use it or Lose it' sunbed rule was enforced by staff, a pity other hotels don't do this !! We didn't eat dinner at the restaurant but we did enjoy their amazing pizzas a couple of lunchtimes, at just €8 each they were a tasty bargain, especially timed with 'happy hour' at 12 noon & 4pm. We made use of the free DVD hire from reception and used the laundry too (€5 a wash / €4 to dry). We didn't get down to the beach so can't comment but can say Taurito is so quiet at night..no thumping music bars or road noise. All the staff were lovely and friendly, but special thanks go to Henrietta the entertainer, she worked her socks off trying to keep everyone happy and the night duty receptionist who's name a forget...on arriving at 11pm he was so helpful and polite. Overall...we would be more than happy to visit Cala Blanca again.

Fabulous

Please don't take notice of any bad reviews that people have made on here. I took my 3 children 15,13&4 here on the 25/07/17 and could not of asked for a better place to stay (and I'm an accommodation snob!) the staff were friendly and helpful, the apartments were spacious and beautiful with big terrace which had sun loungers, parasol and a table with 6 chairs (sun hitting here all day) the views over the sea were amazing especially at sunset. The kitchen are very well equipped with every pot, pan, plate and utensils that you need (a dishwasher was a god send as well)
A short walk down the hill and you come to a small village that leads to the beach where u can do water sports or simply relax, also a water park costing us around 50 euro for the day for the 4 of us. At night an outside bar and entertainment stage opens in the centre with children's entertainment, arcades, 10 pin bowling, trampolines etc, a few shops and restaurants also are there. If you don't fancy walking back up the hill it's around 3 Euro to get a taxi back.
It's definitely more than a 3* I have stayed in way worse 5* places!
We will definitely be back here as we had an amazing time.

Refurbishing.

Lelly_12on 21/07/2017 18:48

Just had a relaxing holiday at this hotel in the hills overlooking the Mogan harbour. Great bus service, but car is recommended for touring into the beautiful mountains inland. Rooms are undergoing refurbishing, some noise from this and deliveries to local hotels. Lots of steps so advise reception before booking to ensure your needs are caters for. Gym newly open following refit, showers there also In use for departing guests. Staff are welcoming and accommodating. Some issues with housekeeping were addressed promptly and profusely; apologies were in addition to free wine and meal. Mistral restaurant very hot and miss, but the atmosphere is bound to ensure a good evening.

Amazing hotel with a beautiful view!

We had a one bedroom apartment and it was a lovely room! A very small kitchen but it had everything you would need for a weeks holiday. A maid came every other day to change the towels and make the bed etc.

The location of the hotel is a little bit out the way from a lot of things as to be able to go out of the hotel for dinner you needed a taxi to get there (Mogan - around 7-8 euros each way). It is about a 20 minute walk to a beach (Uphill to get back to the hotel) which has some lovely smoothie/cocktail bars and little shops, however all the restaurants here are for members of the paradise hotels so we couldn't eat there.

The website for the hotel said transfer to the hotel from the airport was about 70 euros each way, however we got a bus which was about 6 euros per person, per journey. A bus fare to aqualand and palmitos park costs around 6-8 euros per person for a return ticket.

Although the hotel was quite out the way it is in a really nice location for a quiet holiday. There is some really good daytime entertainment such as aquafit, bingo and table tennis all led by a very enthusiastic entertainer. As for evening entertainment, every night we ate at the hotel they had live music which was fantastic! The food in the restaurant is amazing!

Everyone in reception is very helpful with recommending places to eat, travel and places to visit during your stay.

Overall, very happy with this hotel and the quality of customer care, I would 100% recommend staying here and would love to visit again in the future!
