Lovely hotel

PhyllisACon 28/06/2017 00:15

There is much to look at inside, but outside is wonderful too. The food at all the meals was tasty, the hosts were efficient, and the town was very walkable. It seems that though we were prepared to speak Spanish, everyone is well versed in English.

Fantastic service, delicious food, beautiful views.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights recently to get a taste of the Pyrenees, and we were not disappointed.

The location on the hill looks out over the valley, and they have a nice set-up outside where you can eat your meals if you'd like, and we definitely took advantage of that. It was quiet when we were sleeping--just the birds and the horse bells ringing faintly in the background. The hotel itself is nicely and uniquely decorated in kind of a ski-lodge way.

We ate every breakfast and dinner here--chicken, beef, seafood, desserts--and everything was as good or better than the food we'd had in Barcelona. Why seek out other food elsewhere when there are great options right there and for a reasonable price?

Finally, and most importantly, the service was excellent. All of the staff members went out of their way to be helpful and kind to us, and the owner was extremely nice. She recommended a beautiful local hike--be sure to ask about that. We felt very at home here. I really recommend this family-run hotel!

Great hotel

We stayed here earlier this week as part of a walking holiday with InnTravel.

The welcome we got was great. The couple who run the hotel spoke good English (we tried our halting Spanish and they just talked back in English...) and made us feel very welcome. We started our stay with a cold beer out in the garden.

The room was fine but the highlight was dinner. It far surpassed my expectations. My husband had their local rabbit with snails (a local regional dish) and I had the roast chicken with prunes. Seriously good food. The breakfast was similarly good - a good buffet of local cheeses and cured ham and sausage with coffee, cake and more.

I'd happily come back to this hotel and stay longer.

Wonderful stay despite lousy guests

This is probably one of the nicest hotels I've been lately. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (both receptionists and waitresses) and the food was incredible! I had never eaten colt meat before but since the receptionist/waiter recommended it, I gave it a chance, and I wasn't disappointed at all!

I booked a double room for me and my wife. It was really cozy and comfortable and the view was amazing. Decoration was a bit sober but in harmony with the rest of the hotel, which had old furniture and ski apparel hanging on the corridor walls. Breakfast was abundant and my wife was delighted by the local products displayed in the buffet.

Our stay (or I'd rather say "my stay", as my wife wasn't present during the incident) was disrupted when a couple decided the world was about to come to an end because they had a shower instead of a bathtub in their room (or something along those lines). Luckily the staff managed the situation as calmly as they could and (rightfully) invited them to leave the hotel (after almost having to call the police). Everything went smooth until our departure. I was able to see one of the "Superior" rooms thanks to the manager, and if I ever come back to this hotel, I know for sure that's where I'll stay (did I mention those rooms have a balcony?)

If you ever stay in this hotel, make sure to ask for recommendations on the menu, you won't regret it!

Beautiful cosy hotel ruined by noise and noisy holidaymakers

Scuba_Diver56on 27/05/2017 20:11

We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and paid for the more expensive superior double room which cost us an extra $35 (AU) per night for three nights instead of the double room. It was supposed to be sound proofed, a point we did not notice until we were unable to sleep because of noise. When we arrived, we were given a smaller double room, with only a shower, and because we were so exhausted we did not notice until the next night. (We have been staying in hotels for over a month travelling around the Mediterranean, and as a result we only noticed things if they went seriously wrong). The second night I could not sleep due to the noise of guests talking loudly and walking about. Bathroom sounds reminded us that we had booked a room with a bath and not a shower. We then got out our booking and realised we were in the room that was half the size of our booking and after the sleepless night we felt that our room might not have been sound proofed. When we requested clarification from management in the morning, it became clear that we were in a smaller room, however, they refused to give us a reduction of price they stated that it was the fault of Hotels.com (They said Expedia) and that the price we had agreed to pay for 3 nights was for the smaller room. A heated discussion started and the manager/owner threatened to call the police if we did not accept her offer of a one night only removal to a bigger room. We called her bluff and stated that I was a lawyer and that we would welcome the police. That made her take her hand off the phone. (At this point she had the phone up to her ear and was starting to dial) They then requested that we leave the hotel, alternatively between my husband and I we suggested we should leave the hotel. The discussion was heated and I do not know who said we should go first. However, they made no apology for anything, and then demanded we leave. We were only charged for two nights that we stayed there, but their method of accounting was not fathomable, and we definitely paid too much for the room. We paid what they demanded as I was not in the mood on a holiday to deal with the police. I feel this is a pity as this is a lovely, charming hotel, the staff were helpful and the rooms were spotless and well serviced. I do not know why we had so much noise. Possibly some rooms are sound insulated and some are not. All I know is that the Friday night arrivals were dreadfully noisy and no one stopped them. The owner did show me that other websites had more expensive prices than Hotels.com however, I pointed out to her that they were her agents and that she should take up the price difference with them and that I had a valid agreement with her. She did not accept my argument. I admit I was in tears at one point mainly because I had not slept more than 2 hours that night due to the noise. This whole mess was caused by the ignorance and lack of professionalism of the owner/manager regarding the laws of agency and how to deal with customers. We will not start any legal proceedings for the amount we should have been credited, but staying in this hotel definitely put a damper on our holiday.
