Delightful Base for Exploring Anchorage Area

pinegroveon 17/07/2017 02:00

Stayed downstairs in the suite with kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and bath. Breakfast was upstairs in the dining area with delicious changes daily. Caroline and Craig Valentine are gracious hosts and their contemporary home in a residential area is a convenient location for exploring the Anchorage area.

When we missed the bus connection back to the Native America Cultural Center in the Eagle River area, Caroline drove us there so we could pick up our car. !

No place like home.

We were spending a month in Alaska and needed a place to call home as we were flying in and out of Anchorage several times. Camai B and B fit the bill in many ways. Caroline and Craig, our hosts, fed us delicious, gourmet breakfasts, gave us a room with microwave, fridge, tv, wifi, desk, bathrobes, comfortable bed with first class bedding, good lighting for reading, a spacious bathroom with shower and tub, access to living room/lounge, and a beautiful garden for sitting and admiring their flowers. It was truly a home away from home.

Perfect place for family visits

Camai BnB provided a welcoming home base for members of our family (5 adults) while we celebrated our daughter's winter graduation from University of Alaska.

My mom is handicapped and has trouble with stairs, so the long ramp outside the Fireweed Suite worked well for her and my dad. Caroline and Craig carefully cleared the ramp of snow each morning, eliminating the chance of a fall. The ramp leads to the Fireweed Suite kitchenette area, offering a sink, microwave oven, toaster oven, dishes and silverware, and small fridge. This little kitchen was the perfect place for visits with our daughters and friends.

The Fireweed Suite features a lovely queen bed in one room, sectioned off from the rest of the suite with sliding pocket doors. This other half of the suite offers a queen-sized Murphy bed that swings down from the wall on the other side of the pocket doors. My sister found this bed really comfortable and enjoyed the wall-mounted TV.

All of the rooms in this beautiful B and B are decorated with interesting, hand-painted murals in soft pastels. We admired the artistic touches throughout: teak furniture, granite countertops, smoothly carved heads of traditional Cambodian dancers.

Every morning, we rose, anticipating a new breakfast dish. We enjoyed rich coffee and fresh fruit with each breakfast, along with pancakes (blueberry or whole wheat), quiche, scrambled eggs and bacon, and a delicious "egg and ham McBagel." Caroline's a terrific cook!

Camai B and B offered our family great value and comfort in the winter and we sincerely appreciated Craig and Caroline's kind hospitality. We would be happy to stay here again and we highly recommend it to other Anchorage visitors.

Nice, but not what was advertised.

I could parrot what other have said, and I do agree with them, but our experience was a little different. What we read on the website is not what we found. The website says check in is at 3 PM. We arrived at 4 to a grumpy reception. Apparently the letter they sent us changed check in to 5. The website still says 3. The “Guest laundry services (additional fee)” does not mean that there are coin operated machines. It means that she does our laundry and charges us for her time. The big hurt was when she informed us that her booking service under charged us and she would need an additional $50. Rather than take it up with her service she just expected us to pay for the confusion, so, pay we did.
Don’t get me wrong, things were clean. The beds were comfortable and the breakfasts were good. If you book here make sure of everything before you go.

Warm and Welcoming

Spotless and sparkling in a quiet neighborhood. Three uniquely decorated rooms with large modern bathrooms. Gracious hosts who look after every need. Hearty homemade breakfasts including fruit and baked goods. My wife and I give it the highest recommendation of any B&B we have ever stayed in.
