We booked this hotel so we could access an early flight from Gatwick the next day. It came up as a recommended hotel through Thomson.

The rooms were tiny and dated, and the bed was horrific. Considering we had a 12 hour flight the next day, this was the worst way to start our trip. The rooms' walls were unbelievably thin, we could hear next doors conversations through the night and their 'fun' 3am activities. The rooms were very clean when we arrived.

The location was perfect, it was literally 5 minutes away from Gatwick and there was lock town for food and drinks if you wanted to go out in the evening as we did.

In terms of staff, we only met the reception staff and the driver who transported us to the airport. The lady at reception was quite frank and rude, no 'hello' as we arrived and just looked at me until I spoke. When I asked to check in, she just said 'fill these forms in'. I went down later to speak to her about a problem as we couldn't get wifi in the second building of rooms. When I mentioned that we booked this hotel because we needed wifi for various reasons for our holiday, she just replied 'you can't get wifi in the second block of rooms'. When I asked why I couldn't access the wifi, she replied with 'I don't know', shrugged her shoulders and walked off. When I asked another member of staff, they tried to give me a piece of paper with details of the wifi, but the signal is out of range so it didn't really help anyways.
The driver was polite and helpful.

The fact we were able to leave our car here as part of the price of the hotel was very good. Parking could be an issue as there aren't many parking spaces. The wifi was not accessible from the second block. We didn't use the restaurant.

The price was reasonable, mainly by the fact that it included airport parking.

Seriously, pay a bit more and stay elsewhere for more reliablity and service

On arrival, reception staff came across as incredibly rude- at first ignoring (checking their social media on phones while we stood at the counter) and then interacting in unfriendly manner.
Room was devoid of side windows and bedsit like- it was ok to crash and sleep which was the point!
Shuttle next morning was over 5 minutes late. On return after long haul flight we waited for an hour because- it turned out- we had been given a card that said wait at bus stop 8 and not 11 which they had been passing by. When we phoned, the girl was rude and unhelpful.
In the end, the manager picked us up himself and to his credit he seemed genuinely concerned and apologised for this.

Dated but reasonable value.

The main hotel building was once a grand house and some of the original features have remained, although in some areas there have been updates or repairs that were not in keeping with the era, and there are various modifications which look unfinished, which is a shame. Our room was in the main building which was a relief as some of the annexe photos did not look great.
Our room was very small at the top of the building with velux windows (which would be too high for anybody under 6.6" to close) with a poorly fitted "curtain". The bathroom had wall tiles which I guess were supposed to be classy (read tacky) and the largest bath which I had ever seen stuffed into such a small room. The floor tiles were loose with no grout between some, and the sink made a loud cough and splutter when the taps were turned on in the morning. The bed was comfortable and there was tea/coffee provided.
The bar was not always staffed but there was not usually too long a wait to get served. The restaurant seemed to have a good range of food at reasonable prices for a Gatwick hotel, although we did not eat there. Over all this hotel could have 4 or even 5 stars if the original features and style were maintained and the repairs were professional and were kept up to date.

great overnight stay before flight!

Took a while to check in as there was lots of paperwork and stuff to sign, we finished it eventually and had to carry our suitcases up the stairs to our room, i believe she gave us a bigger room which worked out brilliant as me and my sister got beds instead of bunk beds, we went to the bar for a couple of drinks such a nice place to sit and relax however slightly expensive. we did not sleep totally great (partly because my family snore) and because we could hear planes and people with suitcases talking etc outside for their transfers but that cant be helped. we had our taxi outside waiting for us early which was brilliant as we did not have to wait for ages !! so close to the airport. the gentlemen working on reception at around 10:30-11 ish deserve some recognition super friendly, i was bursting for the toilet and they allowed me to run to use theirs whilst my mum sorted out paperwork. staff were amazing and the hotel had everything necessary for an overnight stay will definitely come back if flying from gatwick.

Dreadful rooms both dated and bedsit like

Let's start with the positives
Great price to leave your car whilst flying from Gatwick.
Good transfer service which was easy to use and reliable- friendly driver.

That's it!

The attic room we were allocated was up about three flights of narrow stairs. It was july so the room was very warm with no windows to look out of hence no natural light.

The bedding was horrid and furniture very old wooden stuff what granny had!

The restaurant lacked any character and the young staff made my daughter feel most uncomfortable by staring throughout our meal.

My daughter ordered a Caesar salad which arrived with eggs on it and as she is allergic to them asked the waiter to return it to the kitchen. He had the audacity to argue that Caesar always has egg on it and then told all his staff in front of us! How rude! I have since investigated and traditionally such salads don't have eggs!

Not an enjoyable evening from most unprofessional and rude people. We will never stay here again.

Car park very crowded with cars and due to trees the car has a lot of bird poo on it - it was clean when we left it.

In a more serious note we experienced the fire doors were all held open permanently by the red fire hydrants- fire doors should never at anytime be wedged open. The health and safety here should be addressed, particularly as the stairs are very narrow anyway.
