What People are saying

Disgraceful

I booked this hotel via booking.com back in February. Unfortunately soon after my wallet got stolen along with my bank card. Upon receiving my new card I updated my details with booking.com and thought no more of it. I arrived at Camponille Lil Sud on 15th June and offered my card for payment, they requested I paid the bill upon departure, presumably to get me to spend more on room service etc. On the 17th I returned to my room to find a note stating I had a message at reception, I thought this had something to do with my daughters pregnancy back in uk. I ran to reception to be told they had attempted a unauthorised payment and had used the details of my stolen card. They were incredibly rude asking why I had reserved a room on a bogus card. I paid the bill and left, I know this is s 3 star hotel but common courtesy costs nothing. This is probably the worst place I have stayed in the last 20 years, if they require upfront payment take it when offered. Their actions resulted in my bank calling me with a fraud alert on my account which took over 3 hours to sort. Avoid at all costs there are many better places to stay !!!!

overnight on our way home

we had been lost several times and had not made a booking when eventually we found this hotel
we knew the brand but not used them for several years. It was late we were tired we needed a room.
We were very pleasantly surprised- tea making in the room, bath available as well. Twin beds, TV wardrobe
Clean tidy, pleasant staff at ten pm just what we needed.
They appeared to be still serving dinner but we did not partake instead we were almost last in for breakfast the next morning. They even had pots to make tea in (heaven for a non coffee drinker) The staff member even took it away from me to get proper boiling water from the kitchen.
We were satisfied with our surprise choice. There were two other hotels on the site which would have been considerably cheaper but we were pleased with our choice. We didn't even try the others. Car park was fine and access to the rooms was direct from the outside world so could come and go. There was even a carpet on the balcony ( we were on the first floor) to cut down any potential noise.

Terrible

I picked up our family from this motel.... Oh my God..... I would never stay there.... We stayed our selves in the Beatus in Cambrai. For a little more money we had real rooms in a beautiful hotel...
I have never seen rooms that small... Clean but strong smell of cigarettes, ridiculously expensive for what you get.

Good clean fun

This was a quick stop-off hotel for us on our way south. It was cheap, clean, comfortable and friendly, perfect for our needs. The breakfast was not the best, but it was fine. All in all, I'd recommend this Campanile. It's not unlike a Premier Inn and fine for what we needed it to be.

No. Just no.

Very brusque greeting at reception - he mumbled so I had trouble understanding him (the staff didn't appear to speak English). The rooms are in a block on the other side of the car-park from the reception and restaurant building. No curtains, only nets (and shutters, which I hate), and on the ground floor so we couldn't keep the window open all night. No hair-dryer in the bathroom, and no hand-towels, and nowhere to put your towel when you had used it except on the floor.

On the plus side, it did have a kettle, but no tea-bags (instant coffee sachets and herb teas), and disposable cups so you couldn't use them more than once. I had brought my own travelling mugs and teabags, so that was all right.

The walls were very thin - we watched television, and I hope didn't keep our neighbour awake with our choices! The beds were comfortable, and we slept well.

The restaurant was okay, not brilliant, and of course the food came straight out of the microwave. The dessert buffet was good, though.

We thought we liked Campaniles after the nice one in Luxembourg; we no longer think so. But I had got a very good price, and you do get what you pay for when it comes to hotels! All the same, I wish I hadn't chosen it.
