Great little hotel
Hana Don 15/08/2017 01:22Stayed at the Campanile Mon-Fri in a twin room with my mum and 1 year old son. The hotel is situated right next to the SECC so ideal location for events that are in there.
A lovely 20ish minute walk to the town centre walking straight down next to the river. Lovely in the sunshine :)
The Exhibition centre train station is a 5 min walk from the hotel too so if you didn't fancy the riverside walk that's a good option! Or £5 in a taxi!
The hotel was clean and tidy. The twin room we stayed in was plenty big enough for all our stuff and a travel cot for my little one. The beds were not that comfortable but fine for a few days. Lovely clean bathroom and powerful shower! The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel has a good sized car park with free parking.
Generally the hotel and surrounding area was quiet. There was some loud door slamming in the night but the hotel can't help that some people don't know how to shut doors quietly! We were also awoken to the sound of a bagpipe band practicing just outside our window! Not a bad thing- just added to the Scottish experience ha!
Would definitely stay again :)
Good hotel, great location and cheap rates
Ewan Hon 10/08/2017 15:08I stayed here wit a friend and can't fault it. Room was clean and a decent size. Beds were comfy. Only faults were sir con was very noisy and window couldn't be opened.
Breakfast was pretty good and catered for most people. Good location being only 5 min taxi ride from city centre. Located next to the SECC do ideal for those attending events there. Also has free parking. I would certainly use again.
1 Night Stay
shrimper79on 01/08/2017 22:55Used this hotel for a single night stop over.
Staff were very good, efficient and friendly.
Room was what you expect, simple, clean and functional.
Location wise the hotel is close to the river and about 15-20 min walk from the city centre. (Or a short uber)
The bar area was good and the food in the restaurant was good.
Good value, good hotel.
Handy Hotel
Davie Bon 23/07/2017 16:04Stayed here for two nights.
Very friendly staff and good clean house keeping.
Room was immaculate and well stocked with everything needed for couple of nights stay.
Upon arrival (about 4pm friday)we were greeted by a very pleasant and warm welcome from reception (did not catch the ladies name but was friendly, polite, informative and a pleasure to deal with) I hope the hotel can check who was on shift and reward her for her efforts (would be good if all hotels had someone like her).
Breakfast was included in our price which consisted of the full English or a more lighter and healthier continental....i opted for the full English and was not disappointed that it was served as buffet style.
The room itself was small but comfortable with tv, hair dryer, kettle, en-suit and shower.
WiFi was good throughout hotel - free if booking stay through campenile itself or £6 for 3 days use.
Everything we needed was close by either walking distance or small car ride into town (average cost of £4.50 with Uber).
All in all good service, good food, good price.
What a Location! Duty Manager was a Star
19DayTripper91on 21/07/2017 00:56Me and a group of six friends stayed here on Sun 16th July for the UFC event at the SECC. I couldn't believe how great the location is perfect if attending an event and only a short cab journey into the center of town.
Me and my friends where quite early, chanced our arm at checking in at 12.30 when we arrived but as expected the room wasn't ready - we did check in just before 2 so all was good on that front. As we waited to check-in time we went into the bar - there was an okay selection of draught beer and priced at around £4 a pint I was happy enough.
The hotel was maintained to a decent standard and rooms where cleaned to a decent standard also. I met the Duty Manager (Derek) for the first time as he checked me and my partner in to our room. He was very professional, cheery and an approachable! There wasn't enough he could do for me and my friends, he got staff to stay on a bit longer to serve us at the bar at night and all in all he represented the hotel in such a good light! - So thanks.
We had breakfast quite late in the morning and for it being a busy night there was still a very good selection and quantity of food available for us to choose from, I especially liked the croissants and muffins!
Check out was rather abrupt and maybe the girl behind the desk was having a bad day but she didn't seem to be very happy. Echoing some other reviews on here I believe that some staff need to have a refresher in people skills!
Hats off to Derek and the night porter/barman ( forgot his name :/ ) they had a difficult job with us rowdy lads but they were both a credit to the hotel.
I will most definitely be back.
