What People are saying

Horrific.

Courtney Don 26/06/2017 12:04

Genuinely wouldn't even give this place a 1 star, from the moment we got here they were completely rude to us all. I work in a hotel myself and I know exactly how you should be. Had security guards follow us home to our own caravan, walk on in without even knocking when there was 2 of us in there when we were talking at half 11 at night. I've been on better school trips that have been a lot less stricter. racist is the only way I could describe the behaviour because when they had caravans full of people from their own country staying. We had a lot of people staying here so we brought in a lot of business and I can certainly say I won't be back to this place they ruined my whole 4 days to this place. This is my first time in Amsterdam and you have completely affected my opinion of the Dutch people. Security guards are stalkers they have no right to walk into anyone's caravan without knocking regardless of anything and most of our caravans they actually climbed through the bathroom windows, imagine one of us were using the toilet? To me this is harassment. definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone, not even a family as they are the most ignorant staff I have ever came across!

A mediocre campsite in Zandvoort

Traveller282012on 28/05/2017 20:45

This campsite is right opposite the beach in Zandvoort. It is about a 10min walk to the main town centre. The campsite is basic but adequate if you don't expect too much. You do need your own toilet paper which is pretty standard. There are showers but you need a token which is €1 for 5 mins. This could easily mount up if you are a large family doing days at the beach. There is a bar on site and a surf shop, bike rentals €10 per bike per day surf school €99.
It is a basic site but in a great location. The campsite can have all sorts of people stay. When we were there it resembled a hippy commune or hostel. A group of weed smoking drunk people which I am not worried about (each to their own) but they were loud and quite rude. It cost us about €85 for 3 nights for a camper spot with electricity. You also have to pay a €20 cash deposit, although still unclear what the deposit was for (damaged grass...).

basic with restrications

normally we would always stay in hotels abroad (many caravan stays in the uk) however due its location we felt the caravan park would be a good option. we had the basic 2 bedroom caravan which was comfortable and clean and we did have a welcome pack which included toilet roll, cloths, wash up liquid.
the park its self could do with an upgrade but okay. it is next to the circuit (race track) which can be noisy but didn't really bother us. the campsite is quite away from the centre and train station which is about a 30 minute walk, there is a bus stop outside the campsite which takes you there for around 2 euro one way or you can hire a bike from the park.
the park is located over the road from the beach which has bars/restaurants all the way down to the town centre and will cost around 4.5 euro for a large beer and fish and chips around 9 euros. the on site shop is OK if you just want a pint of milk but is expensive compared to the supermarket dirks in the centre where we got our essentials from.. you have to pay a 50 euro cash deposit which you get back on checking out (as long as you have followed the regulations and rules). you can only check out between 8.30am - 10am and check in between 3pm to 9pm with no facility to check in or out outside of these times which i found out just after making the booking which was a problem as my flight did not arrive until 9.15pm. I asked if there was anyway i could check in after the 9pm cut off to be told no that they have no way of booking in after that time. so be warned even if your flight is delayed you will not be able to enter after 9pm!!! and will have to find alternative accommodation for that night. In all fairness they did give me back a nights money before i made the trip and had to book an hotel for the night we arrived. If you are taking a car also be aware that you are only allowed to take your car on and off site between 8.30am and 9pm even though they charge you extra to park your car. also if you book the caravan i did which holds two adults and two children you will have to pay the city tax and bed linen charge for 4 people even though they may only be two of you staying. this is not shown on the booking.com website and you only know your being charged this when you get the final bill and your locked in to the booking (so i was charged for bed linen i didn't use or need). so be warned if there is only two of staying choose wisely as a good deal also has hidden charges, you also have to pay a 45 euro cleaning charge which is stated on the website. i book trips for all over the world but i have to say the whole booking process for this accommodation was very stressful as it took various e-mails back and forth with the first instance around payment (which they were processing incorrectly) to the checking in problems and having to find alternative accommodation. one thing i have learned is to always check the small print as you could get caught out. I also have to add that i have never stayed at a campsite that does not have facilities for early or late check out and that have all the extra rules and regulations. all in all an okay stay.

Avoid at all costs

We wanted to go for a bit of relaxed camping and thought de Branding right next to the beach could be a good option. It is indeed right next to the beach, just cross a street and you're standing in the sand. The facilities were also kept in reasonable shape for a campground. The toilets were clean, and showers, although completely overpriced, were okay too.
When we arrived we were asked what we're here for. We said to relax. We were then told that if we had said that we were here to party they would have send us away because they are very strict with keeping noise down. Next we were told that anything we book needs to be booked for a minimum of three days. Some of our group already left after two days but we had to pay the full three days.
The big shock came then next morning. 8AM we all woke up to incredibly loud noise. Engine noise from the race track next door. It was so loud that you couldn't hear each other anymore if you were just 3-4 meters apart. All three days that we stayed here, we had this noise from 8AM until 8PM. 12 hours of noise! It was so loud that you could even still hear it at the beach.

So to recap, the reception on check-in told us that they are very particular about noise. We were told that we have to book three days in advance. But the fact that there will be 12 hours of engine noise every day was not mentioned?

TL;DR: Do not come here. We would have left the first morning if we hadn't been forced to pay three days in advance.
Oh yea, thanks for that. Never coming back to you!

No toilet paper provided, so we had to remember to take the toilet paper with us. Luckily we had some, but if you don't it is sold in the little shop.
The showers work with a token, which lasts for about 7 minute. There is no way to adjust the water temp, or to turn it shower off before the time expires.
The beach is just across the road, with lots of bars and restaurants all along the beach front. The camp ground also has a bar, a small shop, and a hire shop which rents out surfboards, paddle boards, skate boards, bikes etc.
we just walked along the beach into the town centre, & then did some grocery shopping at the Dirk supermarket. As we have our own campervan, we found it much cheaper to do this and cook back at the van.
When we were there the weather was still cold, and windy.
Ok, if you want a beach holiday.
Free wifi was not very strong.
