Nice small town, good camping grounds, stony beach
Julian Hon 01/09/2015 10:27We stayed at Camp Planik for 3 days. It was not too crammed and the toilets were cleaned every day. It had a small shop with burgers and ice cream. The Camping Grounds is easy accessible via the road to Pag Island. With the great mountains overlooking the entire area, this small place has a cozy feel to it. In high season the town is full of tourist however not in a crowded and unpleasant way.
Early departure
Miriel Son 25/08/2015 13:01We planned to stay four nights in the camp, because we wanted to see Zadar, Nin, Starigrad and Paklenica.
The price was decent except that the price for renting a refrigirator was outrage. The parcels were not marked . The camp has only a bar/restaurant. Good spot in the camp is the childern playground.
Cleanliness was terrible. We noted on the door the cleaning schedule and it said the bathroom was cleaned THREE times A WEEK. The whole bathroom smelled on stale urine and was full of dead bugs. From the shower you could see that under the sink was not cleaned probably in weeks. Only one sink for dishwashing has hot water.
We left after the second night because the reasons above. It was not so cheap it could afford such filth in bathroom.
Camping in Croatia
EatLifeLoveFoodon 29/07/2015 23:07After seeing photos of Plitvice Lakes and Croatian beaches, hearing lots of positive accounts from other peoples visits, looking in to the food culture and spending time trawling the internet about possible locations and activities, my heart was set on a birthday holiday to Croatia.
I was initially planning to visit islands opposite Split, but the main attraction for me (other than having a week away) really was Plitvice Lakes so I started to look for places to stay with a shorter journey time there - to not lose too many hours on the road.
I looked up hotels and hostels, apartments and boats, package holidays and individually selected deals. Nothing seemed to be what I wanted, or was far out of budget.
I started to think about how I didn't want to go from the hustle and bustle of London life to having a holiday in the Mediterranean heat, in another city... So thought more rurally and about nature. With these thoughts I discovered Camping Planik.
As I looked through their website and saw that they offer pre-pitched tents I decided this was the place to be - no hassle of extra luggage on the flight!
I contacted them directly and requested a tent for two. The lady that dealt with my enquiry - and further emails to arrange everything - was very helpful, she told me how to transfer a deposit, what currencies I could pay in, a local tour operator for excursions, what shops were available locally etc. I couldn't have asked for a better service.
Or arrival we were greeted by a man, he checked us in effortlessly and walked us over to our tent. The walk over took a bit of a scenic route, as all of the tents are identical, but he was jolly and friendly and we were all in good spirits.
The tent was canvas and plenty big enough for two. The main area inside was on a wooden platform, had shelves, a fridge, light, electric hob and basic cooking equipment for our stay - what more could we need!? There were two sleeping compartments - as a couple it was perfect for keeping clothes in one and sleeping in the other, until we were sunburnt enough to need one side each!!
The campsite washing facilities were fine - full of mosquitos, but was only to be expected. The toilets and showers were kept clean throughout our stay.
The bar on site offered a nice shady seating area and sold snacks, ice cream and beer. We took the beer back to our tent to have over dinner which was great.
Opposite our tent was a communal BBQ area which we only used on the last night of our stay. All wood etc was provided underneath and we didn't have to look far for pine cones and needle kindling.
The beach, port, shops and restaurants / bars are about ten minute walk from the campsite - but it's a lovely stroll through a delightful town complete with a morning market and helpful tourist office.
I would highly recommend Camping Planik to anyone who wants to sleep outdoors in Croatia, amongst nature and a quaint fishing town. Remember it's camping. And for campaign it was great!
Top tip: take a pair of binoculars and look at the starry sky through the night, incredible.
far away from everything
potepinkaon 01/07/2015 10:11the tents are well equiped with kitchen, refrigerator, beds are ok, also wi-fi. But there is nothing else around, far away from the sea, the shop, restaurant...Just for a day or two, not more. Tents are very close to each other, no deep shadow.
Great choice!!
