Birthday dinner with friends
maggiem1947on 02/05/2017 23:33This is a gem of a restaurant with fabulous food and excellent service. The gumbo is remarkable, the salads and entrees were terrific, and the deserts very tasty. It is a relaxed atmosphere and not crowded. Highly recommend!
Delicious
michris68on 28/12/2016 00:57From beginning to end, it was delicious. An unexpected stop for dinner. Many good flavors. Very satisfying. Will come again! We had the chicken, lamb, rabbit, seafood apps. Big variety. Nice French restaurant.
RUSTIC VINTAGE 1870 PROPERTY NEAR ERIE CANAL
pasrts4046on 15/09/2016 19:49We were driving through this area after enjoying the Eric Canal boat tour in Herkimer. Using Trip Advisor as our guide we stopped to inquire about a room at the Canal Side Inn. Fortunately for us the owner/chef was there and we caught him just as he was heading out to enjoy his day off...they are closed on Mondays! So dinner was not available but he graciously took the time to show us one of the rooms, actually a very large suite, he had available on the 2nd floor. The entrance is next to the restaurant entrance and we had to go up one flight of narrow stairs...but the rooms where exceptionally large! There was a living/sitting room with TV and pull-out sofa, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and AC. The bedroom was just as large with a rustic, original brick wall behind the bed. The amazing room was the renovated bathroom...it is huge with a double sink, large shower, and separate toilet area. Because it is in an old building, you have to accept the refinished hardwood floors that have slant to them and the doors that sometimes don't shut easily. There is a window AC but we didn't use it because they tend to be noisy. We opened a window just a bit as there were no screens. Part of the charm is the sound of the trains that rumbled by but they didn't seem to go very late at night. The location is very close to lock #17 on the Erie Canal and it is an interesting walk to the small historic park nearby.
We did not get to eat in the restaurant but did very much enjoy our dinner at the nearby Copper Moose Ale House. Breakfast was included with our room and a voucher is provided for the small, local cafe next door. The breakfast was very good and much appreciated.
a trip back home
Glenn Son 23/08/2016 11:44excellent room accommodations for our weekend visit. plenty of room. efficiency if we were to cook any meals. comfortable bed. conveniently located to places we visited in town- although little falls is not a metropolis:):). clean and quaint building with a great restaurant downstairs. only drawback was the 29 steps to the third floor on narrow hallway- but minor compared to location and price
Stay Here if You Like Large Rooms
David Gon 26/07/2016 16:23Peddling on the Erie Canalway we needed a place to stay and Little Falls was just across the river from the trail. We peddled across the bridge (safe for peddlers) and found the Inn. The proprietor was also the Executive Chef and came out to meet us while cooking for dinner. They have a safe place to store bikes and when we went upstairs to the room (no elevator) it was huge. I was two rooms, living and sleeping. It was very homey nad comfortable and the bath area was almost as large as a regular hotel room with top notch spigots, etc. wee almost stayed another night it was so comfortable. It also includes breakfast at the diner next store, very good.
