Great last minute stay
Bbowman76on 15/06/2017 05:54We were in town for a concert and needed a last minute hotel for the night. Jaime (I think) was wonderful and made sure we had a room ready quite early because of the time restraints due to the concert. Room was clean and cool comfortable. Desk staff and management were incredibly nice and accommodating. Thank you very much!
better choices in the area
arthurkHBon 08/06/2017 12:58I have stayed in other candelwood suites before and this one disappointed me . There are a number of similar properties in the area that are newer that would probably not have the issues we dealt with. 1) there was a large hole in the chair ( like a knife) 2) the room was run down 3)the extra bedding was not in the room we had to ask for it, 3 ) the couch was U shape and sunk in the middle 4 ) the bath tub was very slippery as there no mat and the tub itself was slick 5) Handles were ripped off one of the cabinets 6) even though it had 2 rooms there was only one one air conditioner . It blew cold air next to the couch and the ceiling vent was expected to push the cold air into the adjoining bedroom. this design did not work very well .
Clean, quiet, pet friendly
110rfmoonon 16/05/2017 15:23We stayed in room 114 (king size studio, ground floor) on May 13 and 14 2017, non-refundable rate $102 + 75 pet fee (2 dogs) + tax.
I was truly impressed with this hotel. The room was absolutely spotless. No smoke or pet smells, full size fridge, dishwasher, 2 burner stove (no oven) microwave. All appliances were clean (contrary to other places I have stayed at and cringed). They truly thought of everything; dishes, utensils, glasses, cups, colander, dish towels, dish detergent, paper towels, you name it, it had it.
The bed was comfortable, front desk staff was very accommodating and polite. It's very hard to find a good place to stay with pets, and most places charge a fee for each pet. $75 for the stay is a bargain, and coupled with the service - 24 hr front desk, free coffee 24/7, pet exercise area with free doggy bags) and quality of the room, you truly can't go wrong by staying here.
Location is about 7-10 min from 80. Gas station is 1 block up the street, lots of restaurants and fast food places within a 5 mile range. Do not go to Vulcano. In spite of the reviews, our food experience was terrible (see my review under South Bend restaurants).

loves2tanon 19/04/2017 01:251st and last time at a Candlewood Suites & will never stay at this location again. Made original reservation for 4/10-4/11 for a room with 2 queen beds. Received call from hotel night of reservation, asking if I could switch to a king. I said no, I realized I made reservation for wrong night. Person kindly switched my reservation to 4/17-4/18, emphasizing that I need 2 queen beds, he said fine and assured me that I would have 2 queen beds. Got to hotel & had a 1 bed queen suite with sofa bed, no other rooms available. Did give me the option of being on a floor without dogs - really? Partially my fault for not double checking, but the person said I would have a 2 queen bed room as requested. So had no other option but to take the room. Room had a terrible stale smoke smell (which hotel credited me 10,000 IHG points - not really happy but needed to leave & didn't argue & figured I would contact Candlewood when I got home). Other issues were that sofa bed very uncomfortable & very thin mattress, had burn holes, very small thin blanket,& one small pillow, had to take one from the bed. No instructions on how to use thermostat & room temperature varied all nite. Several shady looking characters hanging around the place, that made us women very uncomfortable.

Deborah Bon 15/04/2017 20:12The room was clean and neat. There is a full kitchen with a stove. There was no noise from the airport. The. beds were comfortable, but I would have liked better pillows. There is no breakfast, but there is a nice little snack store with cereal, snacks and basic necessities.
