GREAT HOTEL
Lenlogon 19/04/2017 20:33I was very pleased with the hotel and the room. It has a kitchenette. This is especially good when you have a family to feed.
Mondays and Thursday they serve a free dinner.
Pass this on and tell your friends.
Never again!
suzy928on 24/03/2017 16:30After a 14 hour drive with a baby we arrived to wait in line for 20 mins on a Friday night. While waiting was asked to shut my lights off because my lights were shinning in a guest window (her dogs tore off the curtains). I stepped out of line went out and shut the lights off, but left the car running because my spouse and child were still in the vehicle. Was asked again to shut the lights off by the guest (who had been a problem at the hotel according to front desk personnel). I explained that the parking lights stay on when the vehicle is running. You could clearly see her dog and cat from the window. There was an issue with the booking that we had to work out, which we did. The front desk gal was very apologetic for the rude guest and assured she was checking out the next morning due to other issues with the hotel. We got everything resolved, the next morning after checking out realized my vehicle was vandalized and covered in (hopefully dog) feces. The authorities were called and when they requested the video footage learned there is no surveillance technology what so ever. After speaking with front desk she called the general manager which also was very apologetic and said she knew the rude guest personally and would discuss the issues with her and call me first thing Monday morning when she came into the office. I have not heard from her yet. I will never stay at The Candlewood in Yuma, AZ again. Be advised they do not have any security measures for your safety.
Reasonable value close to the interstate
Brian Son 16/01/2017 00:39This place does not pretend to be something else. If you are looking for a clean room, convenient to the interstate, at a reasonable cost, then this is a good choice. If you want a place where you can walk, particularly somewhere with some history and character, there are better choices.
The staff can make, or break, a hotel experience.
BaseballCoach561on 08/12/2016 23:13My 18 year old daughter and I needed a hotel for a single night traveling between San Diego and Tucson on a college visitation trip. As a long time IHG member I decided to reserve a room at the Candlewood Suites a couple of weeks in advance and use some of my points for payment. The two biggest concerns were a non smoking room with two beds.
A couple of days ahead of the trip I received a call from the hotel's Sales Manager informing me that a group was extending their stay and that double rooms would not be available. Our first option was to transfer my reservation next door to the Holiday Inn Express. Unfortunately due to paperwork issues on IHG's part, this was not an easy proposition. In the end the Candlewood Suites decided to provide us with two adjoining rooms in their hotel at no additional cost. Great communication on the hotel manager's part and we were very happy with the rooms themselves.
Unfortunately the professionalism did not extend to the front desk. Shortly after checking in we went back down to the lobby (around 6:00 pm) to ask directions to several places (restaurants, Walmart, etc.). There were two elderly ladies there that had issues with how their room arrangements were going to be handled for the remainder of their stay. Knowing about the room issues ahead of time we could sympathize with the problem (to a point). However, the lone desk clerk would provide information to the ladies and allow them to discuss it for a minute or two without acknowledging the people waiting in line. I happened to have glanced at my watch walking into the lobby so I know for a fact that we waited 14 minutes for the women to make up their mind (they were either oblivious of the growing line behind them or simply didn't give a darn). The desk clerk should have either called for help or at least attempted to see if he could quickly find out what the issues of the other guests in line were.
The rooms themselves were fine for a one night stopover. We ended up eating the hotel's free spaghetti dinner (not sure if that is a daily occurrence or we simply lucked out). Had we not have had the issue with the front desk I would have unconditionally recommended this hotel for a short stay.
Fantastic value for money
maxandrosieon 17/11/2016 05:33Stayed for 3 nights. Staff very helpful. Full washing facility , and as we had been travelling for several days , being able to wash clothes was a bonus (free)
The room had basic cooking facilities and was spacious. The beds were very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
