What People are saying

Basic but okay

cmx51on 04/06/2017 17:40

I stayed just for one night on a weekend in room 600. The city was pretty packed and I wanted to save costs. Paid only 30 Euro for the night online and was surprised to find a really good place to stay. Basic but everything clean and well maintained. The lightbulb for the table lamp needs to be replaced though. Will stay there again for my next Strasbourg visit.

Yes it is basic. But a terrible stink of raw sewage is beyond basic.

The bathroom stank. It was a shocking, persistent smell. It was so bad that I avoided using the bathroom. When taking a shower one had to open the windows and leave the door to the shower open. The smell was so bad that I was physically sick. When I arrived I thought it was a bad cooking smell but soon came to understand that this was a smell from the drains. There are clearly some issues with the building. I made a complaint, and was informed that the matter would be investigated. I believe that nothing was done. The smell was as bad on the morning that I complained ,when I returned that same evening. The cups, plates and glasses are very basic. I washed everything up in boiling water on arrival. Water for tea or coffee has be boiled in a very dubious looking saucepan. The room itself is basic. The towels are very small and you only get one per person. The internet connection is very poor. The only thing in favour of Cap Europe is the location. It is clear it has been starved of investment.Further when using the WC's in the public areas there was poopy doo in the wash basins.I have encountered this in my local Sainsburys public toliets. I understand those of the islamic faith prefer not to use paper and to wash their bottoms in the sink. This would explain that situation.Perhaps the hotel could consider putting jugs of water by the pan as they do in Malaysian public toliets. Although, public toilets in Malaysia are generally very filthy.

Cheap, dirty, no wifi

Kenneth Mon 24/04/2017 10:37

Cheap best describes it. Bathrooms smell of flu gas. Bed is well used. Lighting pre-historic. Changed the linens every two days. Maybe. Worst is no internet signal at all. They have five networks one weaker than the next. Couldn 't even get on in the hotel lobby. I complained day one and they changed my room. Still nothing. 14 days of no internet. I asked at the desk and they said the owners just didn't want to pay to improve it. They are living in the last century and don't understand modern needs. Not sure why people have chosen to run it like this. Cheap.

Very nice staff and reasonable hotel!

Personal is very very warm and helpful. They keep on eye your luggages and try to help about everything. Rooms were clean and enough furnished. Bed was comfy. We didn't use but there is a small kitchen in rooms. I can recommend if you catch a good price though you don't have thousands of options in Strasbourg. A little bit far away from center comparison to a not a huge city but the area is not bad. there is a synagog very close and probably it's a jewish neighbourhood. No worries because there is a tram station very close.

Great hotel!

I stayed here two nights with my classmates. This hotel was very fresh, the rooms very big and clean. It was not expensive and had a good location. The service was good and the staff was nice! Definitely recommend it!
