What People are saying

Good Location, close to town and the beach, with good facilities

Tadcatcheron 09/09/2016 15:59

We stayed at Cap Med for 2 weeks at the end of August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is well located with a supermarket and other shops within 200m of the entrance and it is within walking distance of other shops as well as bars and restaurants in both Port Camargue and Le Grau-du-Roi. The facilities on site are good with a large pool as well as bar and restaurant and a spa facility. The property is really well located for access to Espiguette Beach which is a very short drive or a 30 minute walk away without the need to go through town. Recommended for couples and families.

relaxing holidays on small budget

We spent 2 weeks at Cap Med at the beginning of June and had a wonderful time. With under 250 euro per week it was a great value for money. We stayed there outside the peak summer season and I cannot recommend more to avoid school vacation . This however mean that you have to take kids out from school . You also MUST have a car to fully appreciate the area.
Pros:
1 spacious clean apartments , with adequately equipped kitchenette and great spacious terrace. No air-conditioning -so avoid hottest months
2. great heated swimming pool. Sufficient amount of sunbeds and umbrellas but only a quarter of apartments were inhabited in June . In peak season , finding free sunbed/umbrella may be a challenge
3. Lots to see and explore around ( Le Grande Motte , Camargue Nature reserve , Roman cities of Orange , Nimes and Arles, medieval Avignon, fortress at Aigues Mortes etc)
4. fantastic L'Espiguette beach only 2 km drive by car/ bike.
5. There is a small supermarket close to the residence.
6. Bikes renting availability .
Cons:
1. Sofa was tired with stains on internal mattress , but we were offered appropriate matters cover .
2. Only one receptionist spoke English but she was available most of the time. All reception staff was kind and helpful.
3. poor wi-fi speed , disconnecting frequently (20euro/ week). But for basic email checking there is a FREE internet available at the reception through the whole day ( quite slow though)

FUYEZ !!!!!!!!

Pascal Lon 06/06/2016 11:04

Take away the staff who are rude and who try to rip you off and it's 'okay'

First tip - make sure you book through bookings.com (probably others are fine too), do not book direct! We made a booking for 7 nights through bookings.com and it came to 1350 Euros, the night before our arrival we had an email from bookings.com saying the rate had improved to 1080 Euros - great! when we got there my husband went in to check us in and pay (we hadn't really discussed rates so he wasn't sure how much we were meant to pay, it's not something we normally discuss in depth as generally we have no problems!). When we settled in our apartment he made a comment that it was very expensive for what we had so the discussion of amounts ensued - he had been charged 1680 euros!. To cut a long story short, after reception gave us 210 euros back (in cash as they said they couldn't put it back on our card - ?!) and tried to claim that the remaining 400 odd euros was taxes, followed by trying to claim that they didn't really speak much English, followed by us stating categorically that we were not prepared to accept this we received the 400euros back in cash.... so before going here make sure you don't book direct, pay on arrival and make sure you check what they are charging to your card (I've seen several reviews since stating that they have had a similar problem with over charging!).

apartment - we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, and, with the exception to the badly stained and dirty sofa (we covered it in a sheet for our stay - good thing we didn't intend to use the pull out bed!) it was very clean! You had plenty of towels and all the basic kitchen utensils - no washing up liquid or dish towels are included therefore you will need to head to the supermarket, which is very well stocked and only a short walk away.
There is no air conditioning in any of the apartments and this was it's biggest downfall! Granted it didn't say there was but to be honest I did assume that in the south of France it would have it - I was wrong in this assumption. We went at the end of July and being in the bedrooms at night was stifling, unbearably hot! We did buy two desk fans that made it bearable but only just!
However if I was rating this establishment on apartment alone I would rate it a 3, but I am not and the staff here - their attitude brings it down to a 1.
The pool - the pool is nice enough, quite large but not many sunbeds - there were often people trying to steal our sunbeds when part of the family were in the pool! The pool was very, very cold and we actually ended up only using the pool for these reasons, we have a 2 year old who could not handle going into such a freezing pool, we found another one nearby that was much warmer.
staff - well I have already mentioned the disaster of checking in, but there is more....
They have bikes by the pool and my 2 year old, who couldn't stand the pool wanted to go on one of the bikes, my father took him to reception to pay and sort it out. He asked how much it would cost and was told 4 euros, gave them 20euros and they gave him 4euros back, when he questioned this they got quite aggressive, my dad calmly explained the basic maths that 20 minus 4 should give him change of 16, after about 10mins they finally got it (bit of a theme going on here with staff and money? hmmmm!). Anyway to cut a very long story short, after 25 mins, 6 keys to the bike racks - none of which worked, my son getting very upset and walking away my dad advised them to leave it and asked for his money back... guess what, they wouldn't give it to him stating that they would find the key shortly. My dad pointed out how my son was in floods of tears and no longer wanted to ride the bikes and calmly asked for his money back, they refused until 10mins later my dad stated that he wouldn't be leaving without his money back, they finally gave in. Granted it was only 4euros, but these people were rude, already tried to swindle money from him and his youngest grandson was breaking his heart - it was the principle!

Needless to say we didn't try the restaurant after our encounters with the staff - and it didn't look like anyone else did either as only once did we see it open!

Reception is closed between 1-4 ... even in peak season, so don't bother trying to arrive between this time as there are gates that you need a passcode to.

would I go back, put in new staff - those that realise what being in customer service means, and of course those that don't try and rip you off and install air con and we might - although highly doubtful!

If you are looking for a cheap base and realise you don't have air con, and are very vigilant about checking what you are being charged then yeah this is an okay base - you have a Mcdonalds, supermarket and a couple of food places that you can get take out from (worth trying for a night in, we had a whole chicken, some ham and potatoes and it was a beautiful meal) a short walk away and the fair, that starts at 20.30 is great - but take money as it isn't cheap!
(no Wi-Fi either just in case you were wondering!)

A wonderful relaxing retreat

mctraveller66on 27/08/2013 18:37

We had 4 nights here as part of a family tour of france. The apartments was very clean, spacious and well equipped- we dined in 2 evenings and used the kitchenette. There was plenty of space for trhe four of us, although only one sofa - so comfortable seating was fought over! The pool is excellent - not enough sunbeds, and the poolside could have done with a hose down - it wasnt bad - just not excellent. We hired bikes form the residence and had a great time exploring the area. Airconditioning would be a great advantage - there is none.
