Great location
Cath Hon 23/03/2017 06:27Firstly the positives - Capitol Peak lodge is very centrally located. It is literally 50 metres from the main gondola up the mountain with easy access to the village and other transport. For families with kids, the ski school is almost right at the door. Our room had a kitchen and internal laundry facilities which is a major bonus when skiing. The apartments have gym and hot tub.
Having said that, we were disappointed with our stay. Our main issue was due to our travel agent misunderstanding the description of "premium" (or "superior" or similar wording). When we booked the only options left were studio apartments and I had opted to pay for the "premium" or superior version on the understanding that it had views of the ski slope. Instead we looked out on the car park and bus route. Apparently at Capitol only the 2 and 3 bedroom apartments face the direction of the ski slopes. All one bedroom and studios face towards the back of the building and "superior" refers to the finishes. While our studio did have a couple of metres of granite benchtop in the kitchenette, we also found it very cramped - particularly as the storage space was minimal. The tiny closet was already largely full with a vacuum and blankets etc and there was not another storage drawer or option in the unit. We resorted to leaving our clothes in our bags and having to step around them to move around the unit. Even for a couple I would definitely recommend only staying if you can get a one bedroom unit (which I didn't see but would hope they had more room). The hot tub and pool were also on the back side of the apartments next to the busy car park.
The staff at the apartments were friendly but were not able to help us in any way as the apartments were fully booked (which probably also goes to show that our experience was not the norm).

We all appreciated her outgoing personality and attention to detail! Before our departure, I reconfirmed my request for this same unit February 28th thru March 10th, 2018.
Great hotel with excellent location
skidocchicagoon 01/02/2017 04:33Great location for skiing in Snowmass. Near transit center for access to Aspen or Buttermilk. The return bus trip is a bit tricky since they do not drop off where they pick you up. The unit at Capitol Peak was very nice. The staff are very helpful and always pleasant.

Mickey Fon 16/01/2017 17:25We had a great time being in the heart of the base village. The location allowed us to easily take breaks throughout the day (we had kids 6 and 9 years old), as well as getting a quick bite near the lodge.

Jully Bon 02/01/2017 12:57We recently stayed at Capital Peak while skiing in Snowmass. Wonderful location, views, room and very convenient to shops and restaurants. Very new, clean and modern. Ski lockers on the first floor were great.
