One of the most uncomfortable stays I've had
worldoyster31on 10/10/2016 23:57I was actually pretty excited to stay at the capsule Inn... I'd seen this style of hotel on TV as a child and was always fascinated - so as part of my trip to Japan I wanted to stay at least one night in a capsule Hotel.
It started off stressful... The directions that my major hotel booking app gave, were wrong. The Google maps directions were also wrong. Wondering around aimlessly with luggage isn't fun. But for those who want to know, it's around the back of McDonald's, at Susukino, you'll walk past a couple of small restaurants and then there will be a sliding glass door (entry to the hotel).
On entry, the Receptionist gave me a bike lock to secure my suitcases in the lobby. You can only take a small bag up to your floor, where there is a locker. You leave your shoes in a locker in the lobby. Flip flops are provided, but I opted out of that - I'm funny about using strange shoes / grossed out by feet!
The pod itself seemed clean. A bit old school with an old tv, the light didn't dim - it flickered if you tried to lower it's intensity. But on closer inspection, I came across hairs and dirt from previous lodgers.
There's a shared bathroom, with a huge bath and showers and sauna. It isn't the most up to date, or well kept place. I wasn't sure how clean I would leave the bathroom - it was also the first time since school used a shared shower, which may not be comfortable for some people being naked in front of others.
As for the sleep.. It was one of the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel. First off, the pod has no air circulation, so it's boiling. I was sweating, I didn't use any cover last night because it was too hot. Second, noise level isn't great. A pair of rude noisy Italians kept coming in and out and talking - no regard for any of the other lodgers, and they obviously didn't understand the quiet manners of the Japanese people. Furthermore, noise in general was constant. Snoring, people getting in and out of bed, others moaning in their sleep.. Or farting. Finally, I am certain there were cockroaches in the walls of the pod. At first I thought it was just static, but then I heard the clicking and noises that I've heard before from roaches. I was then paranoid all night one would fall from the cracks above me. I found an anti cockroach app that plays high frequency noises and that seemed to move them away as I didn't hear from them after an hour.
Overall, I didn't sleep well. Which is the most important factor in picking a hotel. You want somewhere comfortable, quiet and clean to lay your head. This place was none of the above. I wanted to try a capsule Hotel, I'm certain there are good ones out there but this place has put me off using one again in the foreseeable future.

General capsule hotel
Ontwoon 05/01/2016 13:27When I had a stopover in Sapporo, I stayed here. This hotel is general capsule hotel only for men. It takes a few minutes’ walk from SUSUKINO subway station. The location is very good. The lodging fee is quite cheap, only 2,700 JPY. However, if you paid more than 4,000 JPY (depend on season), you can stay other hotels which is not capsule.
There are laundry machines and laundry dryers. You can use a small locker and ask the front desk to keep your big baggage. The capsule room cannot be locked. I advise you not to take the public bath just before check out, because many residents use it. You can find instruction and FAQ in English on the hotel’s website. That description is in detail and easy to understand
Notice: Whether you sleep well or not, it depend on residents of room are stacked next to and on top of one another. I pray you have good neighbors.
Very cheap
RickRGoddardon 24/03/2015 04:05This place is a great choice to stay if you're in sapporo for a short time or just have a strict budget. I've been here twice and both times have been easy and cheap. The location is very good as it's only a short distance to the sapporo station. The beds are also comfortable. I would recommend to any solo travellers who have a small budget.
Stayed 2 nights
Bezusanon 18/08/2014 13:07If youve stayed in a capsule before its easy to get into the groove. I wanted a cheap place, a shower and a place close to the night life. You can pretty much always count on them to have rooms so its the best simplest last minute option even if its at 11 at night.
