What People are saying

Great Inn, Exceptional Hosts

ski4desuon 16/10/2016 21:43

If you like B&Bs, this one is hard to beat. This historic home offers the comfort and amenities that make you feel at home. The owners, Mike & Brenda, are exceptional hosts and ensured our stay was a memorable one. The morning gourmet breakfasts were the icing on the cake. We plan to return for another stay and would not hesitate in recommending Capt Nickels to anyone planning a trip through Maine.

lizmg71on 10/10/2016 15:58

spoke to owner to ask for a key as we would be arriving late.owner said she would be up - when we arrived at 2am, no cell coverage to call owner -no key left out or note to say how to get into our room.
when we did get into our room there was
a loud ticking clock on the wall was a distraction. shower was poor.
no breakfast served as we came down after 9am - an offer of fruit and ham was offered
not impressed by the offering

Wonderful historic property on beautiful grounds. You can walk right down to the ocean to sit and relax or read. No detail overlooked. Comfortable sitting areas inside and outside. Fabulous gourmet breakfast. We hope to return someday.

Have to dine elsewhere

Duffy Bon 13/09/2016 12:43

We had a wonderful stay here but were looking forward to sitting at the bar followed by a great meal in the dining room. Unfortunately, both were closed this summer because of insufficient help, something we didn't find out until we arrived. However, don't let this deter you. Mike and Brenda are excellent hosts and the inn is like a museum of antiques from their extensive travels. The breakfast they served was scrumptious and the afternoon wine and cheeses was a pleasant surprise. There is no shortage of unique restaurants in the area, especially in neighboring Belfast and your hosts can suggest one that will match your tastes. We would rate this inn with five stars except for its un updated information on Trip Advisor.

Outstanding Stay

It's been some time that our travels have warranted the effort of a review, but we have found a treasure worthy of the both our time and yours.

Captain A. V. Nichols Inn located in Searsport, Maine is an outstanding spot for a memorable stay. Our hosts, Brenda and Mike, are the heart of this spectacular home. Brenda's love for and lifelong collection of fine antique furnishings tastefully placed throughout this B&B have brought the character of the home to life. Our rooms with private baths were well appointed and every need provided. Both Brenda and Mike are accomplished in the kitchen and, our gourmet breakfast was excellent.

The grounds are immaculate and the building is situated on the water. A beautiful outdoor deck with furnishings is a marvelous area to relax with a good book or just sit and take in the moment and beauty of this peaceful haven.

Without doubt, this is the best B&B we've ever experienced and, we look forward to returning for a much longer stay in the future.
