I visited this place at the peak of the rains. It was also off season, so me and my wife were the only people in the entire resort. The entire duration, we were in clouds and rains. The access road is now constructed and it is easier than earlier to access this road. The staff are very friendly and highly service oriented and it was a pleasure to be served by them. The food was excellent, home made. The place can do with renovation and some doing up.
Good weekend getaway

Captan's is situated quaintly in the woods away from the hustle of lonavala town. It was raining and the place was beautifully green and lush. The rooms are spacious and the food was homemade and freshly prepared. Not like the buffet spread you find in big hotels but delicious. The staff was courteous and made sure we were well looked after.
Below average resort

Captans resort is a below average resort in lonavala. Finding this resort is a real pain and the road leading to the resort is very narrow.Landmark is next to Upper crest. The rooms are bad. The locks wont work. Old mattress and a dull look. The food and the service has lot to be desired. Avoid

Just returned today and thought should write the review before i forget things. I was here with my family (2 small kids). Nothing worth mentioning that i can remember. I have been thinking of visiting this place for quite some time know. Rainy season is not the time to be here. Main Bungalow and Bali cottage that we were in had insects, bugs, mosquitoes all around. All 4 of us have returned with lot of bites and itching....
Because the property is at a height the Rooms get moist. Floor is wet and during rains you might just have water seeping inside.... The mattress were soggy and felt wet.... But obviously could not do anything....
No TV in the room. Only TV is the main Dining area where all families will be there fighting for single remote to control TV.....
Just ventured the resort to see the property, the path to Jungle rooms which were on top were not maintained properly. I slipped twice.
Food is better than average. Although you do not get a huge spread. There will be salad, dal, rice, roti, 1 veg and 1 non veg along with 1 sweet. Nice home made. But unfortunately they do not serve snacks in the evening. with kids i had a difficult time. The location you don't get anything. Had to drive down to main Lonavala to get something for kids which ended in their dinner.
No intercom, so for everything you have to come to main Bungalow were the hotel staff is. My room did not have glasses, i needed more pillows.... So for everything come out.
Parking was also a problem here. Limited parking space. If your car is parked behind than you have to pray to ensure the owner is in the resort or you cannot do anything. To come down in the evening, had to wait for almost 45 min to get the car out.
Bathroom are also not up to expectation. Although i would say they are clean but does not give a feeling of fresh. The towels were dirty.
The Manager Roy is very helpful and so is the staff, but they can also do only up to an extend. The property needs a good maintenance and improvement. If the owners are reading trust me such a nice property and i guess needs somebody to supervise. Leaving it on Managers is not going to help.
Over all at least in Rainy Season if you can avoid do so..... Hope the property is good during Winters.....
OK Place but need improvements

We as a couple stayed there for 3 nights. We opted for a 3 night stay after going through the reviews. Somewhere we felt this is not the right place to go as a couple. It needs to go a long way to be a romantic place, may be its good if you go as a group.
If you are ok to go to a place where there is no tv, no indoor games, a small pool which is just ok, no telephone network, then you can give this place a try. I must say that there are couple of spots where you can trek in the early morning or in the late evening. But that is if you go as a group or if you are an avid trekker.
The location of this resort is away from the hustle bustle of the main town and not commercialized. You have to go through a village to reach this place. Initially i was skeptical, but i must say its definitely safe. Taking a rick from station would cost you anywhere between 200-300. If you go by your own transport its better.
During the first day we were the only guests in the resort and hence food was made to our choice and I must say we enjoyed the home cooked food. But from the second night onwards it was a bit repetitive. Cant blame that much since there were other guests too. I must say that the staff were very courteous.
The rooms doesnt have TV. I can understand if you are spoilt for choice in terms of indoor activities or a very great scenic then i wouldnt be bothered much. But it gets way too boring after the first day. And the rooms are way too far from cosy. The so called deluxe room was way too basic and the lighting needs to be much better. It doesnt have a dressing table and there is only one mirror in the washroom. The lights in the room are irritating to say the least and no phone for room service.
In terms of the resort, there is only one game that you can play which is carrom and 3 days playing it is too much to ask. The pl pool we didnt feel like getting into. Overall not a romantic place to go and definitely felt it was a bad choice to spend a romantic time. Maybe it would be good to go as a group.
If you dont have any other place, give it a try for one day.
