This hotel is located in just a beautiful place. Really beautiful and peaceful. Overall, I wasn't to impressed by this place. I booked through booking.com and booked a king size bed. I was given three single beds and a baby crib. Air conditioning was very poor and just happened to be very hot when I stayed. Pillows and bed were very uncomfortable. I went to the restaurant on the first floor for dinner and was given a drink. I sat there for 30 or so minutes before they told me that the kitchen closed at 9. I was there around 845. The staff is really really friendly. So, overall, wasn't a bad stay. Just not a very impressive stay.

Good location, poor quality hotel

The hotel is situated a short walk up the hill from the beautiful old town of Monschau and has a small car park which you pay to use. None of the staff were helpful and did not seem interested in serving customers.

Our room was basic (no air-conditioning, the TV did not work) and was looking shabby.

The restaurant was a self service buffet style mostly of meat and fish covered in a sauce. Reminded me of 60's style motorway service station. By the time we got to our dessert most had gone and were not being replaced. Asked for a glass of tap water with the meal but this was refused as they will only serve drinks that make the hotel a profit. They did not take into account we had already purchased many drinks at the table

At 2100 hrs we were asked to leave the restaurant as they wanted to close it

How did this place get 4 stars?So what does one get for 4 stars? No air conditioning, no fridge, no safe. Very basic room and relatively dismissive, uninterested staff. 2 Stars would be reasonable but 4??? Definitely not.The internet connection was slow to almost non existent. The food was reasonably good but no better than what one can find at a decent service station on any highway.VERY disappointing but the staff don't care so this won't matter.

Carat hotel in May ,2017

Cultural shock, expected hotel service will be of international four star standard, four stars were at the entrance , but after two days felt this hotel has its different culture.no one smiles perhaps smiling , greeting are signs of weakness , food terrible. Dinners were Tasteless half boiled fish covered in white sauce same for chicken , which remained undercooked ,vegetables tasteless in large quantities poured periodically, after such food happiness disappears. Worst was nothing to drink, heard Monschau has water everywhere but not a drop to drink in the dinner table. Never any water on table , waiters with sad looking stiff face running with empty plates removed from tables , eyes fixed forward , impossible to get their attention asking for something to drink , even after ordering, drinks never came,
Once while eating tasteless hard fish cakes almost chocked, next day carried my own drink for dinner and that perhaps saved my life. Eating out is better option , there food served hot and tastier, specially recommend apple strudel which was fantastic, many cafes and restaurants are in the town .
Hotel room was specious but very simply decorated , TV and WiFi did not work in room. Safe deposit box in reception only.

The hotel is friendly and comfortable with a lovely pool (allbeit small). Breakfast buffets were extensive and tasty. Small garden to enjoy a drink outside. Rooms comfortable - towels a bit small, and no tea/coffee-making facilities in the room.
