Great place to relax
Laura Lon 15/09/2016 08:06We went for one night, everything was good.
The staff is really friendly, polite, respectful, and available for any request. The breakfast was really nice, with lots of choice.
The thalasso wasn't too busy, with free aqua gym, we spent the whole day there and felt really relax.
Really close to the beach, shops and restaurants, we walked there in the evening.
Not quite as luxurious as we thought
KatswhiskersLondonon 21/08/2016 16:56We've just returned from Thalasso & Spa Hotel and I have to say overall it wasn't quite what we thought it was when booked. I wish I'd checked the reviews on Tripadvisor first as I think it gives a pretty accurate picture. Where as I read booking.com which I think was more positive.
We booked 5 days at Thalasso & Spa Resort - we were looking for somewhere nice and relaxing with a bit of luxury. We know the weather isn't always reliable in Brittany so having the indoor and outdoor pool we thought meant we were covered.
We arrived early and were not able to check in until 4pm, which is completely fine. We had a very nice lunch in their bar/restauant area and the staff were very helpful - particularly given our poor French. We managed to get into the room slightly earlier than 4pm but unfortunately we were disappointed. We'd booked a junior suite, and the room was small. Very small compared to the 'photograph' that you see when booking. So much so that I had to look up the hotel and go down to reception to check we had the correct room. We were told that they were not the hotel pictures they were Booking.com - but after explaining that they represented their hotel and they pay them commission they then looked for an alternative room for us (plus the photos match their own website). We were moved to another room - albeit the same size but a different view - having taken some photographs ourselves, it's clear that a very wide angle lens has been used and a bit of creative photography. Our 13 year old son was with us - so the extra bed in the room reduced the size even more so. When we asked if one of the chairs could be removed to make space we were told no. The bathroom was very nice - no bath but a large walk in shower and 2 sinks. In fact, I think the bathroom was the nicest part of the room. We were given 3 robes to visit the spa area and 3 swimming caps which were to be worn in the pool. The spa area was not quite the relaxing place that we envisaged, more a local gym - accommodating kids swimming lessons, local gym goers and then a mix of people on holiday. All wearing caps and gowns. What was disappointed was the sunbed area is separate and not very large, so we never managed to secure a sunbed. With the two being separate it also meant that you didn't just 'hop' into the pool. Quite different from what we were expecting.
Breakfast was madness - I've never been to a hotel where there are queues for breakfast. The restaurant was not big enough to accommodate the number of people nor was the buffet area where you served yourself. We worked out on the 3rd day that going at 8am was the best way to make it bearable, but this meant our son didn't come and we carried his plate back upstairs for him to wake. Again just not ideal on holiday.
Onto the positives - the staff were very good - very polite and couldn't do enough to please you. The reception area was nice and relaxing. The restaurant for lunch is great - and the food superb. As was food in the restaurant on the first night that we ate there. Although very busy again in the evening. The location is good - everything is walkable.
Overall, we just felt the money we paid for the room, was not reflective of the room we got and the 'spa' was a disappointment.
The question for me is always would you go back or would you recommend? The answer is simply, no.
Au pied des Salines
PierreDUBAIon 29/07/2016 14:36The hotel is perfectly located in this charming city of Carnac.
Different parts of the hotels were indicated. We chose the 4 * suite room, with saline lake view, which was nice. The rooms were recently renovated and are comfortable.
Regretfully, there's no AC on this side and when you can't keep open the window rooms become quickly hot. The local nightclub provides a just reason not to keep the window open as often as you like.
The kids club is a joke , we found just a small 15 sqm2 room, with no terrace, no garden and poor equipment. And un-motivated staff, disappointing.
General Decoration is clean and the lobby is warm with added effort in the seats.
It s only missing something on their staff training to make this hotel reach full potential of warmth and charm.
What a let down!
Raptorashon 18/07/2016 07:38Our so called prepared room had dirty crockery and the remains of the previous occupants meal left on a plate on the desk! I put this outside the door in the corridor where it remained until I then took it to a member of the staff ! The room was very small - clearly we ended up in the old Ibis hotel part of the complex - very noisy as the corridor outside the room seemed to be the main access route from the self-catering residences to the spa area.
A ground floor room meant a patio instead of a balcony - we had to sweep this of all the dead and crispy leaves ourselves - it clearly hadn't been swept in months ! Why did we sweep it ? -,have you tried walking barefoot on a bed of dead, prickly leaves ? Would give this place a miss unless you are wedded to the idea of being in a spa - where, incidentally do not believe all the glossy brochure photos of glamorous young couples relaxing in luxurious surroundings - you are not allowed into the spa area unless you are wearing one of the supplied, ridiculously old-fashioned, bathing hats - which had, funnily enough, been air-brushed out of the all the photos in the brochure !!
Terrifyingly terrible terrible
wwlofficialon 08/07/2016 00:41Mosquitoes and cobwebs in my room and they wont even give me a new one. Terrible! Asked for help, all they give me is a plug in mosquito killer and that's going to kill me as well. What is wrong????? Management needs to close this hotel!!!! Ewwwwwww
