NavyMarineon 28/08/2017 14:13The hotel is very well located, 1 min from the harbor and the bubbly centre of Marseille. Esay access from the train station ( 15min walk). The room was a bit small but clean. The staff at the reception were very helpful and welcoming !
In the heart of it all!
Eurotraveler110on 08/08/2017 18:00I had the opportunity to visit Marseille for the first time in my life. I had wanted to visit ever since Jimmy Buffett sang about its coast many years ago. I was enchanted by its depiction in the movie "The Count of Monte Cristo" and Le Chateau d'If in its Harbor. I jumped at the chance to come.
I did my research, and found the Hotel Carre Vieux Port. I wrote this review to tell everyone why I found this place exceptional and rated it 5 stars.
First and foremost, this hotel has, without a doubt the best location of any hotel I have stayed in relative to transportation, shopping, attractions, churches and of course, the old port. There is literally a metro station at the corner! Even if one had a car, it is so easy to use the metro that it rendered a car a hassle. Everything was within easy walking distance: ferries to the Chateau d'If and the other harbor islands as well as an enormous number of restaurants and bars.
When I walked in, I was early for my room. My flight had a very early morning departure time. I initially planned just to drop off my luggage and leave. However, in what is a powerful example of customer service, a room was arranged for me right then! Marion should be applauded for such service. But it didn't stop there. She gave great recommendations for places to eat, how to manage the metro system, which passes to get as well as the best way to see the islands and Le Chateau d'If.
The room was thoroughly refurbished and the quality of the materials was great. Grohe fixtures were used in the bath, which would be able to accommodate someone with disabilities. A shower assembly with easy access was present. The toilet was modern and tall. Nice toiletries were also provided, as was a coffee maker with biscuits.
The view was pleasant and plenty of outlets were placed for electronics. A large Samsung TV was built into the corner. The bed was comfortable and efficiently arranged.
You leave the key when you leave the hotel, which gives you a personal touch each time you return. I had a conference call that I had to take, and Coralie arranged for me to use their conference room. Superior. Customer. Service.
I truly enjoyed my stay here, and I will try to come back again as soon as possible. This hotel is an incredible value for the money spent, but it is the intangibles that put it over the top. I preferred this to many luxury hotels I've stayed in. It was a fantastic experience.
Good location, VERY small rooms

Literally just enough space to walk past the end of the bed so by the time you have two suitcases in there you have to climb over them to get anywhere. The window was. Sry high up in the room and did feel a tad claustrophobic. Bed comfy. Room was well serviced with hairdryer, towels, soaps, tea and coffee though. Couldn't connect to the wifi and no English channels on the tv, BBC world would have been good. Going d for a bad bit nothing more. Staff were lovely.
Friendly and caring staff took great care of me
mldanehyon 06/06/2017 13:37I became ill while on a business trip, and it really hit me while staying at the Carre Vieux Port Marseille. The staff there took great care of me, especially the lady running the breakfast room making a special drink for me on my last day there (when my symptoms had really hit me hard). They recommended a pharmacy, and a couple of local shops where I could find some things I needed. The staff made it their mission to assist me in any way they could, and I greatly appreciate their care.
Tiny Rooms, but lively area and very helpful staff!
James Lon 05/06/2017 16:23Stayed here for two nights to attend a Rugby game. Staff were very helpful and friendly! Rooms were tiny with not much room for any luggage, but very clean and in a great location steps from the port!
